By evening, the entire pack knew.
Rowan sat alone near the edge of the dining hall while whispers swirled around them.
“That’s the wolf who calmed Elliot.”
“I heard both Alphas almost fought over them.”
“Do you think they’re a mate?”
Rowan nearly choked on their drink.
Mate?
No.
That was impossible.
Across the hall, Alpha Matthew sat at the head table.
His silver eyes flicked toward Rowan every few seconds.
Like he was checking to make sure Rowan was still there.
It made Rowan’s stomach flip.
Then the doors opened.
Damien walked in like he owned the place.
Several wolves stiffened immediately.
But Damien didn’t look at them.
His golden gaze went straight to Rowan.
And he smiled.
Matthew saw it.
The tension in the room doubled instantly.
Damien walked across the hall and sat directly beside Rowan.
Rowan froze.
“You look stressed,” Damien said casually.
Rowan whispered, “Everyone is staring.”
Damien leaned closer.
“Let them.”
Matthew stood abruptly from across the room.
Every wolf fell silent.
Damien looked up with a smirk.
“Oh good,” he said.
“Now he’s jealous again.”
The air in the hall felt suffocating.
Matthew walked slowly toward the table.
Every step radiated Alpha authority.
Damien didn’t move.
He simply leaned back in his chair, watching Kael approach.
Rowan felt trapped between them.
“Damien,” Matthew said coldly.
“Move.”
Damien tilted his head.
“Why?”
Matthew’s voice dropped.
“You’re testing my patience.”
Damien’s grin faded slightly.
Then something strange happened.
His wolf stirred violently beneath the surface.
For a moment, his expression twisted with discomfort.
Rowan noticed immediately.
“You’re not okay,” Rowan said quietly.
Damien blinked.
Before anyone could stop them—
Rowan reached out and touched his arm.
The reaction was immediate.
Damie froze.
The tension drained from his body.
His wolf, moments away from pushing forward, suddenly went completely calm.
Damien stared at Rowan in shock.
Around them, the entire room went silent.
Matthew saw it too.
Rowan had just calmed a second Alpha.
Damien exhaled slowly, still staring at Rowan.
“Well,” he murmured softly.
“That’s new.”
Matthew’s wolf surged violently in response.
Not anger.
Something else.
Something deeper.
Something territorial.
Matthew grabbed Rowan’s hand and pulled them gently to their feet.
“You’re coming with me.”
Rowan blinked.
“Why?”
Matthew’s silver eyes darkened.
“Because if anyone else sees what just happened…”
His voice lowered.
“They’ll start hunting you.”
