Ember’s POV Sam’s response was unexpected. “Because I’m a nice guy.” It made me pause briefly, and I glanced at him, lips twitching with amusement, not because I didn’t think he was a nice guy but because I wasn’t expecting him to toot his own horn. I still wasn’t convinced by his answer and I made sure he knew that. “You don’t even know me,” I said pointedly. He gave me a light shrug, “I know you well enough.” I couldn’t argue with that. A minute later, he tilted his head and stared searchingly at my face, making my brows furrow questioningly, “Do I have something on my face?” He nodded readily and I grew concerned and lifted my hand to paw at my face, “What?” “Anger.” Sam responded with a bemused smile that made me pause momentarily while he gave a light chuckle of amusement
