Ember's Pov
The universe sure had a f*****g weird sense of humor.
After getting that call from my Father, that ruined any hope I had of having a good day, I decided to just forgo having food at the cafeteria and head back to my room.
My bed was the only thing that could offer me the comfort I was seeking at that moment, and I couldn’t wait for my head to hit the softness of the mattress.
I dragged my feet along the corridors, turning corners and expanded hallways to get to the main entrance when a jarring voice reached me.
“Ember.”
My steps stilled instantly and my whole body went rigid.
I didn’t need to turn around to know exactly who it was, I could recognize that irritable smug voice that reeked of entitlement and prideful ego anywhere.
“Fred.” I turned around, sighing his name
