The moment I reached the stairwell, it was to find my path blocked.
Two Geeks, both about my age and size.
I glanced at them then the stairs behind. They blocked my access to Ember who I now was convinced was right in the basement like the Geek said.
There was no way these other two would be guarding an empty room so carefully.
"Move!" I growled at them, hoping they wouldn't let me have to use my fist.
It turned out that they were both foolish men.
