Chapter Four

712 Words
"So, I heard what happened in the hall today." James says as we get into his car. "Yeah, nothing like being bullied on the second day of school." "Well, I'm glad you have that hot friend of yours. Heard she got a good punch in." We both laughed for a moment, then settled into peaceful silence the rest of the drive home. Grabbing a bag of pretzels, I head to my room to work on homework. Around five, I hear both of my parents home from work. They call for us to come downstairs; usually for me to help mom with cooking and James goes to hang out with dad in his office.  "Sweetie, we need to talk." "Okay.... "I saw you the other night on that death trap with a boy. Care to explain?" "Mom, he's just a friend and he was a safe driver." "Are you at least using protection?" "MOM!" "Well?" "Well, what? There's no need for protection because I'm not having s*x with anyone." My mom had a look of relief on her face.  "Glad we got that out of the way." After dinner, James and I decide to sit out in the backyard for a bit. It's a nice night out, and it's comfortable weather. He takes out a pack of cigarettes and offers me one as usual.  "James, how many times do I have to tell you no. They're not good for your health and you should stop smoking at home before mom and dad find out." "I'll take one though." I hear a very familiar voice say. "Who are you?" James asks.  "It's okay, he's a friend of mine." "James, Lucas. Lucas, James." I introduce them to each other.  He then proceeds to give Lucas a cigarette while I ask him what he's doing here.  "I told you that I would be seeing you tonight, didn't I?" "Well, yes. I didn't think you were serious though considering it's a school night." "I'll let you two be, but holler if you need me sis and I'll kick this guys ass." "That won't be needed, but thanks." I look back to Lucas and tell him that I'm serious about not going anywhere tonight. "That's fine, we can just chill here." He says as he puts his arm around my shoulder.  I'm not going to lie, I love the feeling of being near him. Especially when it's in his arms, that seems to be happening a lot. We begin to have small talk, and learn a lot about each other.  Lucas's POV I lost track of time being out here talking to my Angel. This is so strange to me, I have NEVER talked about my life with anybody before. The flow of conversation just comes so easily with her. I'm also learning so much about this mystical being. James comes back outside to tell his sister that she better get back inside because their parents are calling for them. I give a kiss on the beauties face before I depart.  Angelica's POV "What do you think they want to talk to us about?" I ask James as we walk to the living room. "No idea, maybe to yell at us again about Friday night?" Entering the room, we take a seat next to each other on the couch across from our parents.  "With both of your 18th birthdays coming up soon, we felt that we should tell you the truth about your births. The day we brought you home from the hospital son, there was a basket on the front doorstep. At first we thought it was a baby welcoming gift, until we got closer. Inside with a baby girl with a note on top of the blanket." As they took turns telling us this story, my mom opens up a letter that I didn't even notice was in her hands until now. She tried to read, but was crying too much, so she handed the letter to my father. He cleared his throat and began. Stanley & Lucy, First off, I would like to congratulate the both of you on the birth of your son. As you may see, you have also been blessed with a baby girl as well. Please, take good care of Angelica and protect her with your life. On her 18th birthday, she will be in grave danger. I do hope to see my daughter again, but not anytime soon.  Sending you my prayers and love from above.
