I said it before, but it bears repeating—make sure you ask any questions you have about the contract and the publication of your story before you sign away your rights! Many authors are just so happy they were offered a contract that they sign without reading it, then if something happens and they want to withdraw their story, they find it difficult to do so because they didn’t read the contract. Or they’ll ask questions afterwards that annoy the publisher because it’s obvious the contract wasn’t read. It’s your story, and you’re only hurting yourself if you don’t pay attention when trying to get it published. Another thing to do before signing the contract is to ask the publisher if any in-depth or major edits will be required. Editing will be done, of course, but you want to know before
