“CONGRATULATIONS
YOU’VE SAVED CYGNUS”
The robotic voice echoed once. That’s the 57th time, I’ve heard that phrase coming out from the same place in the same voice, or maybe more, I’ve actually lost count! People believe more in the statistical numbers, when they aren’t in round figures, or divisible by 5. The more the randomness of the number, the more the believability. They believe it to be the most accurate when, the numbers are in decimals or in odd numbers. Because, they don’t encounter many round figures in their life. They find the statistical reports to be random and weird looking. That’s why they don’t believe in the accuracy of round figures. Humans are so weird, right!
Oh! Sorry! I went a bit of topic. Actually, I was an ill psychological child from my birth. I had to face many life situations which made me psychologically strong. This strength gave me the power to understand human psychology quite specifically. But, as a writer, I’m not that good. So, why am I writing? You’ll soon find out!
Let me tell about myself. I’m an average 27-year-old American, waiting to face a mid-life crisis! I don’t have much of a job. I’m a gamer. And, that’s, kind of, my source of income. How? Well, let’s avoid that, shall we!
In the past, people used to call themselves gamers with pride. But, in 2112, it is kind of an average thing. It is an activity performed by all. So, gamers don’t have much of a specialty or something. They are normal people. But, not all get to be paid for gaming. It is only done by a few. And, in the present times, it is the most low-reputed jobs available. But, normal gaming is done by everyone (except for retired folks, if they are considered as people in your times. In my times, they are not). The most popular game at present is Cygnus (I know, I know, it is named after a star-constellation! So what!)
Games usually require quite a lot of publicity and time to gain fame. But, for some reasons, this one didn’t even need a month to reach the top!
Maybe, it’s because of the compatibility. Though, it is a bit over-costly, it can be played in any and every computer. It has no system requirements.
They say, “It can be even played in the analytical engine made by Charles Babbage!”
So, people definitely prefer to buy it. Again, there is also the “Tournoi de Gala”. I’m not sure if the word is French or Spanish, but the tournament is worldwide. The winner gets a handsome prize-money and a chance to challenge the CEO of game maker company “Ptah Techs and Consoles”. If the CEO is beaten, the winner will be the next CEO!
The present CEO, remained unbeaten for the past 12 years. He is, in fact, the winner of the “1st Tournoi de Gala”, Raj. Raj Chopra.
Well, what is the point in writing about my mourn of the past! It’s not like, I could rectify things.
{ Well, this is the part when a fairy arrives and grants me the wish to go back to the past. But, alas! No fairy can be seen! }
Well, there is no point in waiting for a fairy. I am feeling tired and drowsy. I'd better take a shower and get myself to feel fresh, rather than, deeped in the tiredness of my past!
