I look up at the imposing statues of Anubis that flank the outside of the Cairo Temple, each of them staring into the distance and probably sensing the way to Duat.
Matia presses against my leg as if she can tell what I"m thinking, and I touch my hand to her head.
"How are you feeling?" Nik asks, putting an arm around me.
"Relieved," I admit. "Mostly." I turn away and make my way down the steps to where our luggage is piled up waiting. There"s certainly a lot more of it than I came with.
"Mostly?"
"Well, we"ve not managed to leave yet."
He chuckles. "The car will be here in a minute, and then we"ll be on our way. And it"s even an earlier plane than we were originally getting."
"I know. Though I still don"t understand how you managed that."
