I've been with Lynx for almost ten years. I can feel the special privileges given by him only to me. When many students at school saw that I was like serving Lynx and followed him wherever he went. They may not be wrong. But they didn't see it from the other side. The side where Lynx really followed me whatever I suggested.
Lynx at first only liked strawberries. All the cakes he ordered must have a strawberry flavor. But I ordered another flavor and got Lynx to try it. Lynx voluntarily followed my advice.
Initially, Lynx always took the corner seat in the cafeteria. In fact, these seats were specially separated from other seats, so that no one could stand sitting there because they felt isolated. I pulled Lynx to sit somewhere else. Offering him a seat on the sofa, so he can stay mingled with the others while eating, but he didn't have to be bothered by passers-by.
Lynx initially didn't want to walk much in the school grounds. So he would ask Jonathan to pick him up in certain unusual areas, like next to the school building where actually there was only a small road that can only be passed by one car. At that time I advised him to use earphones while walking so that he did not realize that he was already at his destination. And earphones gifted by me are still used today by him.
Actually I couldn't count kindness between friends. But I feel like Lynx was much more attuned to me. A lot of kindness from Lynx was including paying attention to me from the crucial to the very trivial things.
Since yesterday's incident I've been thinking about my relationship with Lynx from A to Z. Every detail of our relationship and all my thoughts on him. Out of all the things I thought of, I was holding on to only one thing.
"I don't want to lose....you. Even though I lose my best friend now, I don't want to lose the figure of you... Lynx," I said while looking at the Lynx from two meters away with the ceramic shards in between.
Lynx flinched. His gaze shifted from my face to the floor. The only positive sign from Lynx since our intense ten minute conversation.
"We've both adjusted to each other a lot. I can't answer how you feel right now. I've been thinking all night and I haven't been able to give you an answer. But I know I will regret it if I leave you now," I said looking at Lynx who was still motionless.
I walked slowly towards Lynx's place while avoiding the shards of tiles on the floor. But before I could reach my destination, Lynx showed me his palm. Ordered me to stop.
"Rui... at first I really expected you to leave me. But if my expectations turn around like this, I have to show you something."
I wanted to argue with Lynx right then and there. Lynx seemed to have plan from the beginning, even though he had been so angry before. He seemed to have foreseen all of the risk, regardless of whatever my answer. But at this moment Lynx's words sounded serious so I couldn't help but be silent.
Lynx and I stared at each other for a long time as we got closer. I could see the doubt in his gaze. The gaze which haven't been seen before by me. How he didn't want to make this choice. How he had forcefully to do it.
At first I just focused on the Lynx's changing expression. But strange change occurred around us so I couldn't possibly ignore it.
I would never forget every second of this miracle that I was seeing. The ceramic shards that had been originally scattered on the floor were lifted up until now in line with my view. The pieces were getting closer to each other and all the pieces were rearranged back into a cup shape like working on a 3D puzzle at high speed.
My head felt like it was given a sudden electric shock. My right hand spontaneously held the pantry table for fear that my body would fall at that moment.
"Wha...what... the hell?!"
My brain and my body became freezed. And my eyes was in pain because I haven't blink at all for maybe one minute. For a moment I was feeling like a statue.
Lynx approached me with the cup still hovering in front of his eyes. Then he touched the lobe of the cup and the show ended when Lynx gripped the cup.
Lynx's face was very flat, as if this was a normal human thing to do. Meanwhile my eyeballs felt like they were about to pop out of their sockets. I must be looking really stupid right now.
What did I see just now?
Trick?
Impossible. Too smooth for a trick.
Or am I actually being bullied right now? Maybe there are another drug had been put in my meal so I could barely see the trick?
"Rui. I'll reassure you one last time. You can leave right now and just assume this is a nightmare that you'll forget over time," Lynx said while handing me the cup.
I was silent for a few seconds with the cup in my hand. At least I have a few seconds to feel the sensation of things being assembled from fraction pieces of a second. The stupid thing I thought at the time was that the sensation wasn't any different from the thing I used while sipping hot tea earlier.
"Lynx.... are you stupid?! Hiding something like this from me for almost ten years?! Did you think I would be shocked, have a heart attack and then pass out and become unconscious?!"
I screamed because I was actually the one who felt stupid right now. The feeling which being fooled by someone who was beyond my reach just because of our growing differences.
I threw the cup at the sofa, but something was holding it back from falling. It must have been Lynx who operated the cup so it could float in the air. And several second later a cup and a bowl have been arranged back on the pantry table.
"Lynx... you know. I've been thinking about a lot of things. I'm not just thinking about how annoying you are now for telling me to leave you. I think Lynx must have had reasons to keep everything from me. Am I the only one who has faith in you?!"
Lynx listened carefully to each one of my words. I know he was listening. Even when he just looked into my eyes, I could tell he was listening. But seeing him react to nothing made me impatient.
"I don't give a f**k about what I saw earlier. I just want to know what I'll think after knowing everything from you. I just want to know how I condition myself after this," I said with an emotional intonation.
I breathe irregularly. Looks like my energy hasn't recovered yet while I have to scream out all the emotions that exist. I looked at the still silent Lynx with envy. How clever he was to use his energy effectively all this time.
Right now I couldn't see Lynx's view as the same as before Lynx confessed his feelings for me. I couldn't help but imagine that those piercing eyes in his eyes meant more than I had expected. I looked away and only looked back at him when my mind was stable enough.
"Hey... Lynx. Speak... I don't know what else to say... but yeah... you... can hug me too," I said very awkwardly without looking at him.
"Actually I want to kiss you right now. But I'm afraid to rush."
Lynx said in a voice that sounded comfortable to my ear. Even though his words still make my hair stand on.
"I...I... will try to hold it in. I know you've always kept it in your mind. When you hugged me at my house. During the events at Sweet Delight yesterday. Especially what happened this afternoon..."
However... I said it all but still afraid of the repercussions of my own words.
Lynx approached me slowly. I tried to realign my head towards Lynx so whatever Lynx did could happen as quickly as possible. I closed my eyes and tried to breathe normally. Instead of calming my breath, now my heartbeat was beating so fast. So far from calming my self.
Oh shit... Lynx. Hurry up. I've been holding back this weird thought for a few seconds.
Instead of getting a kiss on the lips, I felt a peck on my forehead. Only that. I opened my eyes and Lynx was already a few feet in front of me.
"How could I force you with such a frightened face. Rui... since you've decided, I have to involve you further in my family matters," Lynx said in a tone that turned flat again.
Ah.... the Olivine family matter. I almost forgot about it. What's wrong with my brain right now?
"From now on I'll be responsible for whatever happens to you. So please don't act weird again by promising something to my father," Lynx said in a voice that sounded more commanding than a request.
I didn't answer. Just gulped while nodding.
"I will also take you to my house. But one thing you must know, my house is currently in a state of chaos. You must not give any information to anyone else who is there, except for me, my mother and my father. While discussing with Vanilla also please involve me," said Lynx with the use of each word structured and intonation similar to security officers when entering the factory area.
And before I noticed something odd about Lynx's sentence, he had resumed his sentence.
"Ah.. Vanilla has lived in the Olivine residence all this time. She has the same power as us," said Lynx answering the question in my head before I could say it. "Don't worry, I won't let anyone into my room. It will be only for you."
In fact, I don't think so at the moment. But I can't deny that one day I'll be curious about the information that Lynx just gave me.
"I have to discuss some things with my father and you must come with me."
"Oh.. When?" I asked innocently as Lynx tried to touch my hand.
"Now."
Why did I think that at that time I was innocent? Because I didn't expect that Lynx would take me to his house in such a magical way.
The split second after Lynx took my hand, I felt an incredible sensation that I had never felt before. The scene in my brain quickly shifted from the penthouse to a very dark dimensionless space. Maybe this sensation can be described by the sensation that would be felt when sucked into a black hole.
I could feel myself floating and unable to touch anything around me, including my feet which were not on any base. On the other hand I could still feel the grip on my right hand that didn't go away even though I can't feel Lynx's presence there.
The complete darkness I felt only lasted a few seconds before I finally returned to the real world. Or maybe it felt too fast because my mind and eyes have not been able to adjust to this power that can be categorized as teleportation.
At this time I was in a room with minimal lighting with a base that was already treadable. But since my legs weren't ready to support my body, I immediately fell as I left the dimensionless space.
In the darkness I could feel the texture of the cold floor from my bare feet and hands trying to grope as I fell. I was thankful the room we went to was still dark. Because I was sure my head will get dizzy if I get even the slightest light right after the sensation of total darkness I feel.
I was still trying to get up from the floor by looking for the handles around me. Then I felt a grip on my left arm so I could pull myself up to stand up.
"Close your eyes before I turn on the light."
The voice that stuck in my mind came from behind my ear. A voice with a low frequency and flat intonation that I'm very familiar with.
I closed my eyes and I could feel the light still penetrating my eyelids. I slowly opened my eyes. Trying to adjust the intensity of the existing light.
In a day, I saw two types of luxury bedrooms that I had never seen before. If the bedroom of the penthouse looks luxurious and elegant, the bedroom that I see today looks very minimalist and simple. But of course this room still gives a different elegant aura.
Given that Lynx could easily control the things around him, it seemed that Lynx was also very perfectionist towards himself. The number of items can be counted on the fingers, some of the placement of items on the shelves in the corner of the room looks very symmetrical and precise. Not a single spot looks messy in this room. In fact, all the books on the vertical shelves are arranged from highest to lowest.
The bed was the same as a bed in a five-star hotel which is neatly arranged without any wrinkles in all areas. Since I was curious as to the extent of Lynx's perfectionist spirit, I roughly measured whether the pillows were also laid symmetrically. And it turned out the answer was yes.
While I was looking around the room which had amazed me, Lynx changed the glass that surrounded the two walls of her room from dove textured to transparent. Instantly I could see the scenery outside this room.
It turned out that Lynx's room was on the second floor of a large room. As if the bedroom was made as a mezzanine but with glass walls that limited it.
On the first floor I could see the lounge with three sofas in the middle. There was a small bar and also gym equipment in the corner of the room. After looking at the last gym equipment, I just found out the source of Lynx's power regardless he can use special powers.
I was speechless with all the new things I've learned about the Lynx. But suddenly one unimportant but curious thing crossed my mind.
"If you could put the broken cup back together. Would you be able to change this room at your will?"
"Oh... because something big has happened here, this afternoon I came back to redesign almost whole room in this house."
Okay...all right Lynx. What else could make me shake my head at this impossibility about you.
