Chapter Two

FLASHBACK (CONTINUED)

Dante didn’t want to be a part of the vampires because he didn’t want to feed on human blood, so he started staying in the abandoned hut in the forest and decided to also take in others hiskind who didn’t want to feed on humans. Every night, they all went out to find animals to feed on so they could sustain themselves. This went on for a while, until one particular day. Dante was running in the forest when he suddenly saw the figure of a woman.Out Of Curiosity, he moved closer to the person.He got scared and shouted when she suddenly turned around, and this made the lady laugh so hard, asking why a man would be scared and shout that way? Dante looked at her and was about to go his way when she suddenly stopped him, holding his hand.“I'm Sorry, I didn’t mean to be mean. I was just very excited to see a person after a while,”shesaid. He looked at her and asked her what she meant, and then she told him she had lost her way and had been walking around,coming back to the same spot.He looked at her for a while and turned to leave, but she was still holding onto him, so she lost her balance and almost fell when he caught her, holding her waist while their eyes locked. She fell for him that minute, and that was when her fate quietly rewrites itself.He Let her go immediately, suddenly feeling nervous and his heart beating rapidly; he started wondering what had happened to him. After a while, he asked her to follow him so he could show her the way out of the forest, and she agreed, smiling. They got to the open after a while, and she finally asked him for his name; “Dante,” he said. She smiled and told him her name was Mariam. She waved at him and ran off. Dante stood for a moment, looking at the direction she took off in and still wondering what was wrong with him.After a while, he turned and walked back to their court. Life went on, and while the other vampires fed on humans, Dante and his other vampire friends fed on animals. They created their own little community and were trying as much as possible to not get in contact with any other vampires.Mariam'sWorld Mariam got back home, but she couldn’t stop thinking about the man she met in the forest. It was difficult for her to go about her days without him crossing her mind. She lost focus even at work, and that was when she decided she would go back to the forest to look for him.

Back To The Forest

Morning came, and Mariam got up, dressed, and headed to the forest.On her way, she remembered she didn’t know where he lived or where to find him, but she still decided to go look for him. She ran around the forest until the sun set but didn’t see him. She sat on the floor, frustrated and tired; she had been running the whole day. A mouse suddenly ran over her legs, and out of fear, she jumped, lost her balance, and rolled down the hill screaming. The scream caught the attention of someone, and he walked inherdirection.Atlast, he saw a woman lying down and badly injured. He called and was trying to talk to Mariam, but all she heard was “Miss, what’s…?” before she fainted. He carried her, and after walking for a while, they got to a small cave, and he took her in, cared for her, and then allowed her to sleep.

The next morning, Mariam opened her eyes and got up gently.She was still feeling pain all over her body, but to her surprise, she didn’t see anyone in the cave with her.She was very sure someone rescued her the day before. She was trying to get up when a man walked into the cave, and Mariam looked up to see his face.To her surprise, it was the man she had been looking for all day before she fell down the hill. She smiled at him quickly, thanking him for saving her life. He dropped the roasted meat for her to eat and told her goodbye, but Mariam stopped him quickly, telling him that she came to the forest to see him.Surprised, he looked at her and asked her, "Why?"Then she said she hasn’t been able to concentrate, and all she does is think about him every time. Dante looked at her,surprised, and then he thought to himself that even if he likes her, nothing can ever happen between them.He tried to leave, but again Mariam stopped him. "Let’s be friends, please," she said, with her eyes full of love and fear of rejection. He couldn’t bring himself to hurt her like that, so he told her, "Yes." Their life of being each other’s company started, and they were both enjoying every second of it. Mariam noticed that Dante tries as much as possible to avoid body contact with her, and this got her worried.After several thoughts about it, she decided to ask him, but Dante told her she was overthinking things. She decided to shake the feelings off. One particular day, Dante and Mariam were in the forest as usual when suddenly, Mariam held Dante’s face in her palm.Hepanicked, but before he could do anything, Mariam kissed him, cold shivers down his spine as he could feel it all over his body.He held her closer, kissing her passionately. Their eyes were closed, and they were both in their own world, enjoying every bit of the moment.He mistakenly bither, and immediately Dante’s fang came out, and his eyes got red, eager to suck Mariam’s blood.He tried to control himself, and he disappeared immediately. Mariam opened her eyes but couldn’t see Dante, surprised and scared, she called for him after it dawned on her that she might not see him again.She started crying, calling him loudly.Dante, who was behind one of the trees in the forest, heard all this and was filled with anger and hatred for Lucian. He stayed there, not wanting to come out, but in no time, Mariam saw him and ran toward him, begging him to not leave her. Tears filled his eyes as he explained everything to Mariam, shocked and a bit scared; she told him it doesn’t matter, and she still wanted to be with him. Dante wiped the blood on her lips and hugged her. He took her to their house, entering the small town she noticed people were looking at her, but she didn’t say anything. They entered Dante’s room, and after a while, two other vampires came into the room, asking Dante to come out for a talk. He followed them, and they all left the room, leaving Mariam alone, wondering.
