Pigs

I shot up with a start, my heart was beating fast. I almost hit my head off of the metal it was resting on. I looked around, trying to get a grip and understand where I was. My breathing calmed as everything resettled in my head and I had remembered what had happened. 'Its alright. Were okay.' My brain soothed me. I took a breath and nodded, closing my eyes as I did. I stood up, it was dark out now. I didn't know how long I had been sleeping for. I had fallen asleep in the early morning. How could I have slept this many hours? 'Probably because you haven't slept in three days.' I nodded again, that must be it. My body finally had enough. I looked out onto the road. A few cars past, but no police cars. I sighed and walked out from my hiding spot.. I could try to walk down the road now, if I wanted to risk a free ride to my death. I looked back at my dumpster. I could live there. couldn't I? "Don't be stupid. You'll be found eventually. Karma's, remember?' I shook my head, my brain was always right. I guess I have no choice. "Stupid pigs.." I sighed aloud, before I carefully crouched at the ally corner, before sneakily going out into the open on the main street. Hood up, head down and looking sketchy as hell.. Great. I'm definitely getting caught. JASONS POV "What do you mean, haven't found her?!" I shouted at Mark through my cell phone. I was pissed, my sister got away from me and is now running the city streets like a street rat. And now these cops are telling me they've found nothing on a 16-year-old girl, when I reported her missing hours ago. "Are you sure you know what your doing, dumbass? I'm sure it's not your job. If it was your job, you'd have found the brat already!" I yelled again. I could feel the venom running through me. "Jason, you need to calm down. We'll find her, but cases like these take a bit more time than a few hours", Marks' voice sounded through the phone line. I mentally sighed at hearing his deep, loud and annoying voice. "Whatever," I snapped. "I'll be the one to find her. You cops think you are so good. Yet you can't find one little girl!" I gritted my teeth in frustration, I smoothed my hair back, I was angry. I wanted her home. I was gonna kill her when I found her. Who did she think she was? Humiliating me like this? She was gonna pay. "Jason, don't talk about my squa-" "Oh, goddamn, go f**k off and do f**k all you f*****g jackasses!" I screamed the last part, loudly. I hung up and slammed my phone down. If it weren't for the screen protector and phone case, it would have smashed. I looked up to see Jody entering the kitchen. Great, he probably heard that. I picked up my cigarette package and took one out, lighting it up. "Hey.." He said, leaning in the doorway and crossing his arms. "Anything on her yet..?" He questioned, knowing the answer. I took a puff of my cigarette and stared back somewhat calmly. "What do you think?"I made a sarcastic hand gesture towards my phone, Jody scoffed. "I'd think they'd have found at least something about her by now. Its been hours.." He pulled out his chair from across from me. He took my cigarette from my hand and started smoking it. I sighed and shook my head, I looked at Jody. "I don't get how she could have just gotten away like that.." Jody slightly choked on the cigarette before handing it back to me. I looked at him curiously. "Sorry, swallowed the smoke.." He shakily said. He coughed, clearing his throat. "She must have been plotting to run for a while, waiting for the perfect time to get away.." I nodded, he was more than likely right. If I knew my sister, she was a sneaky, desiving little snot. She had to have planned this more than a few weeks ago, maybe even a month or so, before she ran trying to gather the courage. I looked at the floor, my hand resting on my chin. I was thinking of where she might've run off too. Then it hit me, "I wonder where she ran off too. The first place that comes to my mind is Karmas farm." Jody went silent for a moment. I could tell he was thinking, or maybe trying to act like he was. "I don't know Jay.. Why would she go anywhere you looked? Maybe she's just squatting in ally ways and making friends with the homeless." I nodded my head, and thought he was right. If Jade wasn't at Karmas she would be out on the streets. Either way, I'd have to go out and look. The police weren't a big help in the hurry to find her. I grabbed my keys off the table and headed for the door, Jody at my heels. "Where are you going?" He asked. What a stupid question. Where does he think? "Out to find her, Mark's no damn help." Jody nodded, "I'll come and help, four eyes are better than two." I agreed, and we left out the door, only I couldn't help but think Jody was coming for another reason. I could've sworn I had heard concern in his voice. We got into the car. I turned it on. And that's when I noticed, looking at the dashboard behind the steering wheel, There were extra miles put into the car kilometers. He drove somewhere, and pretty far too. I decided not to say anything. After all, Jody wouldn't betray me by helping her escape, would he? He had better not have.
