CHAPTER 2: THE MAN WHO CONTROLS EVERYTHING

199 Words
Adrian Kade believed in one rule: Control everything, or be controlled. He stood at the edge of his penthouse, overlooking the same city Elara ruled from her tower. “Vance Dynamics,” his assistant said, handing him a file. “You now own twenty-three percent.” Adrian didn’t smile. He never did. “And her reaction?” “She’s digging.” “Of course she is.” He finally turned, his expression calm, calculating. “Good.” Because Adrian Kade didn’t invest in companies. He invested in people. And Elara Vance? She intrigued him. A woman who built herself from nothing… yet trusted no one. He wanted to see how far she could bend before she broke. Or if she would break at all. The gala was everything Elara hated. Noise. Fake smiles. Pretending. But tonight, she had a reason to be there. Her enemy was in the room. She could feel it. “Elara,” Nora whispered, “three o’clock.” Elara turned. And for the first time in years She froze. He stood across the room, tall, composed, eyes locked on hers like he had been waiting. Adrian Kade. The air shifted. Not soft. Not gentle. Sharp.
