Chapter 1

       Sitting on a stool looking through the window from her apartment, looking at the cars  moving up and down like she was counting every one of them. Crystal thought about what she had missed at her work place; 'perhaps a promotion' since she was on her sick leave, after her appendectomy surgery.

    On the other hand, she was  dead worried  about her younger sister Ruby. She haven't heard from Ruby for five months since she ran off with her wayward boyfriend and she doubt Ruby has an idea she almost died.if only she's still around town.

  Crystal Kings woke out of a deep sleep,she had heard something ,her telephone ringing?  Raising her head,She took a deep breath, just realized she fell asleep on her desk while deep in her thoughts, she rushed to the telephone when it began to ring the second time.

  "Hello, calling from Dr ZD specialist hospital ,am i speaking to miss Crystal Kings?"

Her heart was racing.Air.need air.why would the hospital call my telephone,Dr ZD's............. Of all? That place is quite expensive,what must have happened? How did there get my number? All this thoughts flashed in her mind within seconds,as she slowly replied. yes.

"Your sister miss Ruby Kings was brought to our hospital last night,by a stranger who left later on, just called to inform you that you will be needed at the hospital".

Ruby's heart was going to explode, as she didn't believe the first news she was going to hear about her missing sister was going to be bad news, is she okay?what happened to her?what's going on?

Please calm down ma'am, she's okay, luckily she was rushed to the hospital on time else the issue would have been more intense,

What happened! beginning to raise her voice.

She had an abortion

The phone dropped from Crystal's hand as she couldn't hold back her tears,I can't believe Ruby will go this far,she fell to her sit.

"ouch"!she screamed not aloud,as she felt a sharp pain at the spot of her suture,she was too worried so she paid less attention to it.

It was already four pm,the sun was already setting,wow! I'm still in disbelief, well the hospital is about two hours and thirty minutes from here, that's such a long drive,

Calculating the time it will take to reach the hospital, that will be around six thirty or so .

Just then she remembered Cece,  Crystal met Cece in the airport eight years ago when they were both living Africa for New York for school purpose, they became friends and didn't leave each other's side,not until cece decided to move to New York with her fiancee  Rex who happens to be an American while Crystal remained at Philadelphia.

Finally I have someone I can talk to

As She picked up her phone to put a call across  to cece.

Hi girl.

Yeah hello Cris how have you been?

Am doing well just called to ask if I could stay at your place,cause will be leaving for New York tomorrow as early as possible.

Come on you don't need to ask, you are always free to visit.umm.... but girl you were supposed to be resting,or are you taking a flight or something?

Nope...

Am going to be driving all by myself.

Hope there's nothing bothering you ?

Hmm I will tell you everything when I get there tomorrow. bye love you....

She ended the call without even waiting for a reply.

Couldn't wait for the call to end,she murmured to her self, with a deep sigh

So embarrassing, how do I even tell Cece Ruby had an abortion, holding her head not to explode with thoughts, she went into her room and began to gather the things she needed for her trip the next day.

It was such a long night, couldn't wait for morning to come.

So tired as she tried to get up, she had struggled to sleep the whole night but couldn't,as she tried to fight her mind from thinking about her sister, she finally managed to get up,her eyes covered with black circles.

She quickly rushed to the bathroom,  brushed her teeth,had a shower and started getting ready for her travel.

Crystal Kings dressed up in a pitch short dress, wrapped her dark afro hair into a bunch, with light powder,some mascara to her eye lashes and pink shiny lipgloss that lit up her dark shiny skin.

At list something to make a black woman standard, simple and natural at the same Time.she thought.

She took he bags,and her car keys and headed to the garage downstairs where her car was parked .

It was a Toyota Corolla fairly used car she had bought with her first salary and some savings she had. She drove out of her garage to the street and stopped at a cafeteria close to her house to get some coffee and doughnuts for breakfast.

After driving for about an hour,a call from Cece interrupted,she had to park by the corner to answer.

Hello,crystal.

Hi Cece.

How's your journey going? And how are you?.

I'm good,just gone half way of my journey

Ok, can't wait to see you , please be  careful and take care of yourself ok.

Ok girl, thanks I really appreciate the care, love you!

crystal tried to sound good and ok as she could, because she didn't want Cece to worry. but deep down she was feeling sick, because of the long drive perhaps.

She continued her journey

From traffic to clear roads,and so many distraction's.

Finally! New York,

hear I come,she said with a great sigh of relief, as she drove into the city.

It took additional thirty minutes to get to Cece's place.

       Wow!crystal, you are welcome,I really missed you, you look really great,your skin is shining, you look amazing,if I didn't know better I wouldn't have believed you were even sick.

Well thank you sweetie really missed you. with a bold smile she said.

Where's Rex?don't seem to see him around well he travelled to the country side to see his family,and he will be staying for a couple of weeks,so that means we have the whole house to ourselves.

Yeah!!! hugging each other over and over again.

Let me make you something to eat Cece said.

Hmm not now need to get to somewhere right now. Don't ask. Please don't ask where.

She said in her mind.

Oh no but you need to have a shower and rest, at least eat something.

Hold on.interrupting what crystal was about to say.what made you come to New York in such a hurry?hmm.narrowing her eyes and looking directly into Crystal's face as if she could read her mind through her expression. Something is wrong,come on tell me.

         Hmm..... Cece it's so hard and embarrassing to say, what is it? It's Ruby, you found her? She had an abortion,and is currently at Dr ZD's specialist hospital here in New York.

What! Ruby went too far,come on girl, we need to get to the hospital now ok.

No work today? crystal asked.

I'll just call to excuse myself,I can't let you go alone.

You don't need to do that, just go to work ok .

There's no point talking me out, you know that won't work .

Cece took the car keys from Crystal I will be driving,let's go.
