Chapter Twenty-TwoIt took three days to dispose of the dead bodies that littered the Citadel and the city. There were also hundreds of listless Dhegian prisoners. 'Eyota,' Chumani said, 'how shall we deal with the Dhegians? Shall we kill them all?' Melcorka shook her head. 'No. If you do that, you will be as bad as Wamblee. You must gather them together and make them swear on their ancestors that they will not cause more trouble. Then you will set them free.' 'It shall be as you wish, Eyota.' There were other decisions to make, too, such as what to do with the palisade wall around the Citadel. 'Remove it,' Melcorka said at once. 'Nobody should be separate from anybody else. The rulers should not have to be protected from the ruled. All should be together, for the good of the community
