CHAPTER FOUR

1155 Words
Being a werewolf and growing up with a tough father was no walk in the park, let me tell you. My dad had this idea that being a werewolf meant being tough and unyielding, just like him. But instead of making me strong, it made me brittle and soft. From a young age, I had to suppress my wolf instincts and emotions. My father believed that showing any vulnerability was a sign of weakness, and he didn't want me to be seen as weak, he said I needed to protect myself so I don't get killed like my mother, but it was futile. So, I learned to hide my true self, burying my wolf nature deep within. Living with this constant pressure to be strong and in control took its toll on me. I became guarded and cautious in my interactions with others. I was afraid to let anyone see the real me, fearing that they would judge me for being different or weaker than other werewolves. It was a lonely existence, always wearing a mask and never truly being myself. Back to the present day. I couldn't believe what was happening. One moment, I was going about my day, and the next, I found myself in Asher's grasp. He had kidn*pped me, and fear coursed through my veins. I struggled against his hold, desperate to understand why he would do such a thing. "Why, Asher? Why are you doing this?" I demanded, my voice trembling with a mix of fear and confusion. He looked at me with intense eyes, his expression unreadable. "Freya, there's more to this than you know. Trust me," he said, his voice low and filled with a tone of something I couldn't quite place. I woke up and saw myself lying on a king-sized bed, with Asher sitting right next to me, with a tray of food. I thought I was taken captive, but then here he was with me in the most comfortable bed I've ever laid on and with food with an aroma I could only have imagined. I delved into my food and ate like a hungry animal, with the luxury and comfort sinking in, I suddenly realized Asher had taken me forcefully. "Why did you kidnap me, Asher? What do you want from me?" I asked, my voice wavering with a mix of fear and curiosity. He sighed, his eyes filled with a mix of regret and longing. "Freya, I never wanted it to come to this. But there are forces at play that you don't understand. I needed to protect you, even if it meant taking you away from everything you knew." I scoffed, unable to fully trust his words. "Protect me? By trapping me here? That doesn't make any sense!" Asher's voice softened as he reached out to touch my hand gently. "Freya, there's a danger looming over you, over both of us. I can't explain it all right now, but I promise, once you see the truth, you'll understand why I did what I did." I pulled my hand away, a mix of frustration and vulnerability coursing through me. "I don't need your protection, Asher. I can take care of myself. I don't want to be here, trapped with you." He looked at me with a pained expression, his voice filled with sincerity. "I know it's hard to believe, but I care about you, Freya. More than you can imagine. I never wanted to hurt you. I just wanted to keep you safe". "Safe from who?!" I screamed throwing the food away. "My Father! My Father! Freya" he said as he came closer to me holding my hands. "What do you mean your father? Asher?" I asked, so confused. "You were right about me or my father killing your mother, just in this case with was the father," Asher said holding my hands still. He took a deep breath, his eyes never leaving mine. "I understand your doubts, Freya. All I ask is that you give me a chance to prove myself. I'll do whatever it takes to make things right, to show you that my intentions are not what they seem." He went on " I also may have told my father about you, and he thinks you are out there trying to plot a revenge attack against him and has sent some men to Crescent Valley to find you". I hesitated, unsure of whether to believe him or not. But deep down, a part of me longed for the connection we shared, the way he made me feel alive amid captivity. "Alright, Asher. Show me. Prove to me". "I will, my lovely Freya, I will. Just trust me for a couple of days". As the days passed, my emotions became a tangled mess. Asher's presence, despite the circumstances, started to affect me in ways I couldn't explain. It was as if he had cast a spell on me, making me question everything I thought I knew. I found myself drawn to him, despite my initial resentment. It was like a strange connection had formed between us, and it both terrified and intrigued me. Was this what they called the Stockholm syndrome? The lines between captor and captive began to blur, and I couldn't make sense of my feelings. Love and vengeance became intertwined, making it difficult to distinguish one from the other. I had sworn to seek revenge for the pain he had caused, but now, I found myself torn between that desire and the growing affection I felt for Asher. Every interaction with him was a rollercoaster of emotions. One moment, I would be filled with anger and resentment, ready to fight him tooth and nail. But then, he would say something or do something unexpectedly kind, and my heart would soften. And I said to myself often " I can't hold him accountable for the sim of his father". But amidst the chaos, I couldn't deny the undeniable pull I felt towards Asher. It was as if fate had brought us together for a reason, and I couldn't ignore the way my heart raced whenever he was near. The moon hung high in the darkened sky as I walked through the dimly lit streets of Crescent Valley. The air was heavy with anticipation, as rumors of vampire attacks had been spreading like wildfire. Whispers of stolen belongings and mysterious disappearances echoed through the kingdom, sending shivers down my spine. Phase one of the attacks had begun. Vampires, cunning and swift, would strike under the cover of night, stealing precious possessions from unsuspecting victims. Fear gripped the hearts of the people, and the once vibrant kingdom now felt like a shadow of its former self. I couldn't escape the feeling that danger lurked around every corner. Shadows danced along the streets, and the wind whispered eerie sounds through the trees. The sense of impending doom grew with each passing night.
