CHAPTER SEVEN

Brianna was out cold from what she knows nothing about, she could not remember a thing about how she got to where she was and by the time she came to, she found herself on top of a vampire who had the bite of a werewolf scaring her neck, and she could notice that the vampire was pale, meaning one thing, the werewolf bit had killed her. She got scared and tried to run away, but she was cornered buy group of vampires, they snarled at her because she had killed on of theirs.

“I did not kill her, I swear, I passed out and just found her that way”, she tried to reason with them, but it was no use.

“Watch your back”, the leader of the small vampire group threatened her and they left

Unbeknownst to her, Brianna was being watched every minute of every day by a guard of the Blood River pack, as instructed by the one-eyed alpha. They followed her every move, but at some point they could not remember a thing either. But, the guard saw the vampires, what they tried to do to Brianna, he reported to his alpha as he should after making sure she got home safely and unharmed.

“I’m coming”, Brianna called out, after hearing a knock at her door, she gasped surprised at who it was. The one-eyed alpha.

“Hello, Brianna”, she was surprised that he knew her name

“Hello, Alpha”, she bowed as a sign of respect

“I heard about your encounter with the vampires, are you okay”, He asked

“What is your name?” Brianna asked instead, she could not continue to call him one-eyed alpha in her head forever

“Orion, and I believe I asked you a question”, he answered rather sternly

“Oh, yes, I am okay, Alpha Orion”

“Alright, pack your things, we are going to the pack house”, He all but ordered her

“Why? Because you’re being threatened by vampires and you will be kept safe better at the pack house”, he explained, making her nod. She went into the room to pack the valuables she would need and followed him out the building.

When they got to the pack house, Brianna noticed that the werewolves were running around as if a festival was going on, so she asked Orion what was happening and he told her that Peter was getting married to his betrothed. My mouth hung open when she heard what the alpha said, betrothed?

“B-b-b-b-but we are mates”, she said sadly with her head hung

“Oh! Apologies, they had been betrothed since birth and it’s only normal for him to go through with it”, Orion tried to sympathize with her, not working so much because of the scary mask he was always wearing.

“It is fine, I understand”, her voice almost cracking as she replied.

Orion ordered someone to take her to her assigned room and introduce her around, to take her mind off of things- mates. Brianna was taken to her room, after she dropped her bags; she asked to be taken to where Peter was.

She met Peter and a beautiful woman hugging each other in the middle of the room they were seen at, she envied her, but there was nothing she could do about it.

“Peter”, she called out, making the couple break apart from their hug

“Hello, I’m Elizabeth, and I just want to say how sorry I am for what is happening”, the woman spoke first, she had the a velvety voice making her even more beautiful than she already was

“It is fine, I just want to finish the rejection ritual so everyone can live a happy life”, Brianna stated her purpose of being in that room, “Also to give this to Peter, because of the connection”, she handed out the bracelet that Ella gave her to him

Peter happily took the bracelet, thankful that Brianna wasn’t causing any trouble with the newly acquired information about his marriage to his betrothed. He liked and respected Brianna even more for that. They finished the rejection ceremony between the three of them, contrary to popular werewolf beliefs, the rejection is not painful, the only severance that causes them pain is breaking a pack bond. And, like that Brianna and Peter were no longer mate, but friends.

As Brianna was making her way back to her room after the rejection ceremony, she was given the message that the alpha required her attention in the throne room, she went right away. Upon getting there, the throne turned in a way that one can one see the back of the head of the person sitting on it. She was baffled about how things run in this pack and spoke out her concern.

“Alpha, why are you facing that way?” she asked confusedly, making Orion’s eyebrow shoot up from under his mask thinking the girl was not afraid of him at all, so he asked

“Are you not afraid of me?” she shook her head no, but then remembered he couldn’t see her so she said “No, I am not afraid of you”.

Her statement surprised Orion that he turned the throne around to face her, not sensing any lies from her, he believed her and was relieved that for the first time since his face incident, no one has ever be that truthful towards him. Brianna was a breath of fresh air.

“Tell me, what exactly happened with the vampires”, He said

“I went to the club with my friend Ella, and then I went outside to go to the toilet, and I didn’t know what happened, all I know was that I woke up and I was lying on a dead vampire that has a wolf bite on her neck, I tried to run, then the group of vampires arrived and threatened me, that’s all I know”, she explained in one breath

“So, you blacked out?”

“Yes, Alpha, I blacked out”, she agreed with his statement. “And I really want to thank you for everything you have done for me, saving me and accepting me into your pack, I really appreciate”

“Yeah, you’re welcome”, He replied, albeit warmly. “You should get some rest, I’m going to introduce you to the pack tomorrow, be ready”

“Yes, Alpha, got it”, she mock-saluted before walking out of the throne room. Orion couldn’t help but smile at her childish look when she replied.

As Brianna walked down the corridor from the throne room to her assigned room, she came across a room where a girl was seated in a wheel chair, the girl looked rather young and lonely, so she decided to keep her company and introduce herself, after all she was now a member of the Blood River pack, it was about time she started acting like it and mingle with fellow park members.

“Can I come in?” she took permission and got an answer before entering the room

“Hello, Brianna”, she was shocked that the girl had the voice of an adult and knew her name when she was yet to introduce herself.

“Um, Hi”, Brianna waved rather shyly making the girl chuckle to herself

“It is okay, I heard about you from my brother, I’m Hannah, Orion’s sister”, Brianna’s mouth formed ‘O’ as realization hit her. It wasn’t as if the little girl was an oracle or anything. *Nervous smile*. They chatted for a while before Brianna left for her room to rest.

The next morning came earlier than expected for Brianna, but she sucked it up. Before she knew it, she was in front of every pack member getting introduced as pack and to top it off, the Alpha’s intended Luna. Everyone clapped and was happy that their alpha has found someone, everyone, but the person in question.

Brianna was not happy that Orion did not even take her feelings into question and just made that kind of decision himself. She stormed out angrily.
