Chapter Twenty-Nine
“Why did you come here on your own?” Lilith scolded Sam as two Wardens escorted a shackled Finnegan Fickle from his estate.
“What will happen to him?” Samantha asked, ignoring Lilith’s earlier question. Until she figured out what exactly she wanted from this, it was easier to keep some distance. Just for now.
The two Wardens put the old Pixie into a dark van and just before they slammed the door shut, he locked eyes with Sam. His emotionless face broke for a moment as he shot her a strange look but she didn’t have time to examine what was going on.
With the doors closed, the two Wardens stepped to the side to make space for Rex. He patted the back of the van and grinned. “There. That’s two favours you owe me, Lil.”
“Don’t call me Lil,” she sneered.
“Lili then.”
