Chapter 9That night in her hotel room, Priscilla takes off one loafer, wipes the bottom of her foot. She repeats this on the other side. She puts on a pair of slippers, neatly lined against her cabinet dresser. She disrobes and puts on a pressed pair of pajamas from the cabinet. She hangs everything she wore that day back into her closet. Priscilla brushes her teeth. Twice. To finish off her night, Priscilla hits pen to paper and cranks out her artist’s statement. The next morning Priscilla walks through the lobby in a cover up, straw hat, sunglasses, carrying a towel and her beach bag that has papers sticking out of it. Priscilla disrobes at an empty lounge chair. She sees Giacomo at the other end of the pool. He waves. She puts on sunscreen, realizes she can’t reach her back. She walks
