Chapter 14Ramona drops Priscilla off in front of the hospital’s entrance.
“I hope he’s okay,” she says out of the open car door window.
“I really appreciate this.”
They linger for a moment. Priscilla grabs Ramona’s hand, squeezes it, and walks into the hospital.
Giacomo’s is awake, and Dr. Gonzalez and the nurse are standing on either side of his hospital bed.
“They’re letting me go.”
“Is that the best thing to do?” Priscilla questions.
“I want to be home. I need to be back home.”
“Okay.”
“We can fly back this afternoon.”
“We’d like to keep him longer, but if he feels more comfortable at home, I understand.”
“Okay.”
“I already feel better.”
“Giacomo, don’t you think this is all a bit quick?”
“Are you not ready to go? We were supposed to be back by now anyway.”
