Shady had a rough childhood. She was only 2 years old when Chuck (her real dad) left Angel (her mom) after throwing her 6 month old baby sister Pan across the room. Luckily, Angel caught her, and she was unharmed. Shady was confused because she thought the new baby was the reason daddy was leaving. Angel packed their stuff that night and dropped the kids off with her parents Doug (PawPaw) and Diane (Nanny) who also allowed her brother Mykl to live there as well. Angel told everyone that it was only for a little while, but it would be another 12 years before that actually happened.
Shady's first memory was when she was about 3 years old. Angel had rented an apartment about 6 blocks away from her parents. It was the first time they had spent the weekend with their mom since the night she gave them away. It was Monday morning, and Angel was driving over to drop the girls off on her way to court to put Chuck on child support payments. She was thinking back to Saturday's eventful day. Chuck was standing in her kitchen when she walked in. She had only left the girls alone for a few minutes to run to the store. It really freaked her out because no one had a key but her, and she hadn't told anyone where the new place was. He showed up to try and talk her out of going to court. Angel wasn't backing down this time though. Once Chuck realized this, he changed his strategy. He reminded her that he would never pay for us and to remember he had connections all over the USA. He left shortly after. She went around the house making sure every window and door was locked before going to bed.
They quickly arrived at Pawpaw's house. She unloaded the girls and took them inside. Shady ran straight into Pawpaw's arms saying she had forgotten her Taterbug (her favorite stuffed rainbow ant she couldn't go without) in the back of mom's car. He walked them over to the door, and it opened up just in time to see the car explode. From what the fire chief said, it was a miracle the car didn't blow up sooner. They said the car was on fire before they ever left the apartment. Thank God she didn't listen to Doug and had filled the car up on Saturday. He has just had the fuel tank repaired, and he said that he wasn't sure it was even fixed. The full tank is what saved them that day.
