After Alpha Damien collapsed, everything in Black Ridge changed in a single moment.
Lyla, his former betrothed Luna, ran towards where he had fallen. Her steps were rushed, uneven, almost desperate. When she reached him, her breath caught in her throat.
He was lying still.
"Damien…?" she called, her voice shaking.
There was no response.
Her hands trembled as she dropped to her knees beside him, reaching out to touch his face. His skin felt cold, not lifeless, but dangerously close.
Fear took over her instantly.
"Damien!" she screamed.
Her scream sounded loud across the entire pack grounds, alerting every guard within seconds, wolves rushed out from every direction, their expressions filled with confusion, then horror as they saw their Alpha on the ground
