1054 Words

9 WOLFE Wolfe has packed all of the adventure novels he kept at the Villa, and one brief History of Champions he found in the market at Sandhorne. He’s studying them carefully on the carriage ride to Yurka. It’s not easy to concentrate when the carriage is so jostling, when the crown prince is either teasing him, or complaining of an empty stomach, or snoring. Zoe insisted they leave the larger carriage at the Villa, though she is one and they are two, and Wolfe obliged her. He couldn’t see the merit in defying her twice – she threw such a fit, and the crown prince only egged her on, which is exactly what Wolfe should have expected. He’s known the crown prince and the duchess near twenty years
