Chapter 20

98 Words

20 CODY Cody sets her sopping wet boots in front of the great window in her rented room to dry. Her knees pop and snap when she walks. Her shoulders burn. The arches of her feet are already blistering. She’s ashamed of herself. She hasn’t run since Ithil, and her father made her do it for a reason. Every day for fifteen years, he made her run so she would slay a Fire Scale. Now she’s quite out of practice. She’s thinking of Penn and Cayda more and more, when she should be thinking of nothing else – nothing but slaying the beast.
