DAY AND NIGHT by Kimberly. M continues

_Chapter Eleven_ _The Shattering_ Runa stood. The dark hair bled to white. Her clothes shifted — shadows burned away, replaced with gold and burning sun. She was no longer the hurt girl by the waterfall. She was Day. And she was smiling. A large, cruel smirk. "Oh, naive Nita," Runa said softly. "You just trusted a stranger. Your mother destroyed my mother. And I’ll destroy your world." Nita hadn’t awakened her full powers yet. She lunged for the Soul of Night anyway. "No!" But Runa was faster. Stronger. She overpowered her, grabbed the galactic stone, and crushed it. It split in half. For one second, nothing happened. Then the sky screamed. The balance of the two worlds was destroyed. The moon and sun slammed together, creating a red sky. The ground began to c***k. The trees twisted and turned into monsters. People screamed as their bodies hardened into stone. Life in the two worlds started to die. Nita fell to her knees, holding a piece of the broken stone to her chest. "Why?" she whispered. Runa looked down at her, sun blazing behind her. "Because now we’re even." --- _Chapter Twelve_ _Consequences_ Runa didn’t know. She walked into the Day World expecting victory. Expecting sun. Expecting cheers. Instead she found silence. The sky was red. The ground was cracked. Everything was gone. Lifeless. "No," she whispered. "No, no, NO." "What have I done? Only the Night World was supposed to be destroyed." Her hands shook. The sun on her clothes dimmed. She had killed both worlds to avenge one. Back at the waterfall, Nita was still on her knees. Crying. Holding the broken piece of the Soul of Night to her chest. Her tears fell. One. Two. They hit the stone. It glowed. Not with its old power. Not yet. But with something new. Nita gasped. Power surged through her veins. Fire and starlight and moonlight all at once. Her magic awakened. She looked up at the red sky, clutching the stone. "I’m not done," she whispered. "Not yet." --- _Chapter Thirteen_ _The Call_ Runa fell to her knees in the dead Day World. She was crying now. Real tears, not fake ones. "Please," she whispered, grabbing the Day Soul Stone. It was cracked too. Its shine dimmed to almost nothing. "Stone, please. Restore Day. Please." The stone didn’t answer. Because it couldn’t. Not alone. Then she heard it. A voice cutting through the red sky. _"Runa."_ Nita. Calling to her. From across the broken worlds. Runa stood, wiping her face. The sun on her clothes flared once, angry. From far away, Nita’s voice came again — stronger this time. Fueled by new magic. __"Runa. You destroyed the world. Now I’ll destroy you."__ The ground between them cracked deeper. --- _Chapter Fourteen_ _Sun and Moon_ They met in the middle of the cracked world. Where the ground was split and the sky was bleeding red. No words. Just magic. With a flash, both drew their swords. Runa’s — flaming with golden light. The fire of Day. Nita’s — flaring with galactic light. Stars and nebulae swirling down the blade. And then they fought. Light crashed into light. The ground shook. The monsters in the trees howled. Stone people watched with dead eyes. Runa was strong, fueled by grief. But Nita was stronger. Fueled by loss, and now — awakened. With one final strike, Nita took Runa down. She pinned her to the cracked earth, sword at her throat, breathing hard. Runa laughed through blood. "Do it. Finish it." Nita raised her sword. And then she heard it. Her mother’s voice. Soft. Desperate. __"No. No, no, Nita. Do not destroy. Do not let rage get the better of you. You can fix this."__ Nita froze. The galactic sword trembled in her hands. --- _Chapter Fifteen_ _The Mending_ "How, Mother?" Nita whispered, tears falling. "It’s all destroyed." Her mother’s voice was gentle now. _"Bring the souls back together. Bring both Day and Night."_ Nita looked down at the lifeless piece of the Night Soul Stone in her hand. Then she looked at Runa. Slowly, she walked to her. Held out her hand. "What you destroyed... can be fixed. Give me the Day Soul Stone." Runa stared up at her from the ground. "Why are you sparing me? I killed your world." Nita knelt. "Because you are my sister. And I know you were influenced by your mother’s rage." Runa went still. Then, with shaking hands, she placed the dim Day Soul Stone in Nita’s palm. Nita put the two halves together. Nothing happened. "Why isn’t this working?" she whispered. Runa stood. Came closer. For a second they just looked at each other — Sun and Moon. Enemy and sister. Then they both placed their hands on the stones. Light erupted. Brighter than any sun. Deeper than any galaxy. A light no one had ever seen. The red sky cleared. The ground healed. The monster trees became forests again. Stone people took a breath and became human. The world was restored. Humanity was restored. And everything became more magical than before. Now the two worlds could visit each other. Day could walk in Night. Night could dance in Day. And the two sisters ruled together. Happily ever after.
