The Lovers Contract

First Date (Officially)

Driving the opposite direction to my house I had no idea where Dan was taking me, his hand caressed my thigh as he drove. Remembering the last time we were driving in his car his hand was bandaged up and I was curious and even slightly scared but now his hand almost healed and although I know I shouldn't I fully trusted him to keep me safe. We arrived at his destination in no time at all, we pulled into a small car park surrounded by trees, we were the only ones present at this location which gave me chills.

 We exited his car and Dan grabbed the rucksack from the backseat before offering me his hand which I took willingly. Strolling down a small path he leads me out to a small opening overlooking the sea, it was beautiful, We jumped down onto a lower lever and continued to stumble around to a more sheltered part of the headland. Dan placed his bag onto the ground and pulled out a picnic blanket and laid it out on the floor with a hand gesture to offer me a seat. Once seated he sat behind me as we did in the bath with me safely seated between his legs, he gently moved my brown curly locks onto one side of my neck and proceeds to gently plant a kiss on my neck. I soaked up the sun rays as I rested into his broad chest. Reaching into his bag again he pulls out a sandwich each and a bottle of prosecco, he gives me a sandwich, cheese (safe option) before grabbing two plastic cups and places them next to us. Dan filled them up with the prosecco while I took my sandwich out of its wrapping and started eating it. Passing me one of the cups we 'clinked' our cups 

"to first dates and sexy bodies," he boomed with a smile from ear to ear as I blushed at his so-called speech. We drank the prosecco and finished our sandwiches before he moved from behind me to reposition himself next to me.

"So how would you rate this as first dates go," He said as he topped up my drink, he left his as he was driving, sensible. 

"Yeah, pretty good I must admit, Such pretty views I never knew this place existed" I answered while sipping more prosecco, I could feel it already going straight to my head. 

"Good, I had hoped it would be, my view is very pretty too" winking at me oh god I was blushing. AGAIN! So cringy but I couldn't help myself. He placed his hand gently on my thigh, calming my rosy cheeks, and slowly moved his fingers round in circles tickling my leg. 

"Tell me about yourself Cat" This comment was so unexpected, he called me by my real name for one which he has done and well nobody asks me to talk about myself. I gave him a puzzled look and laughed.

"No, I'm serious, Your beautiful, sexy, fun and let's not forget clever. Why are you not snatched up already or why I had I never seen you before the other day". His tone became more serious as his eyes became softer, Dan was genuinely curious about me. 

I let out a sigh, I was more than happy being the mysterious girl he met at the club with no worries or problems but I knew if I was to have any relationship with anyone I would have to tell them. 

"Well, I hardly ever go clubbing because I have a lot of uni work, the first year I went wild don't get me wrong I like dancing and things but I have priorities you see" I smirked, that was the easier question answer. He slowly nodded because he already knew that answer but waited for me to continue. 

"I'm single because I want to be, do you have a problem with that?" I became defensive and he let out a laugh, Dan knew I was lying 

"well if you say so princess but you seem to be gagging for my attention and my touch" Thank god he let that one slip, he didn't need to know I got cheated on in my first relationship or that I simply have low self-esteem like why would anyone want to date me. Thinking about it why was he into me like what was in it for him. I turned to face him with a stern face and abruptly asked him 

"what do you want from me" He was taken back by this, who wouldn't I was being a b***h and I knew it. His eyebrows furrowed before asking me what I meant "well you could have anyone why me" I asked defensively. 

"well despite the things I reeled off to you a minute ago I feel a connection and I know how stupid that sounds as we barely know each other but from the moment I laid eyes on you I couldn't stop thinking about you" We sat in silence after his confession, I can't believe someone could ever think about me like that never mind this god of a man. A few moments later Dan jumped up and held out his hand for him to pull me up. As he dragged me up from the floor he also took me out of my head out of my doubt and back into the present. I gave him a smile which he repaid to acknowledge that whatever just happened between us was now in the past and that we should both carry on with our day. 

Dan packed up the picnic blanket and put our cups and rubbish back into his bag before we headed back to the car, we slowly strolled in silences with our hands intertwined with each other. The silence caused me to run away with my thoughts, this guy likes me, he picked me in a crowd full of other stunning girls with tiny waists and slowing hair but he chose me, nothing out of the ordinary curly-haired frizzball. Once we reached the car dan stopped before opening my door and was looking down at his feet.

"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable, I'm not obsessed or anything I have just never felt so strongly about a girl before" His hand reached up and held his neck as he spoke. I could stop myself before I knew it our lips crashed against each other, once Dan had realised we were kissing his hands wrapped around me and tightly squeezed before picking me up and spinning me around as if we were in a romantic movie. Once we had released each other from our warm embrace we got into his car and drove off back down the road. Within a matter of days, we had something between us, not a relationship but there was a spark at least. In the car, he reached over and gave me a loving squeeze on my thigh reassuring me that he felt the same way as I did. I felt safe, I felt loved. 

I asked Dan to stop at the local supermarket remembering that I didn't have any meals left at home, He pulled into the carpark and parked near the entrance so that I wouldn't have to walk far. He requested to allow him to join me in my shop, probably so that he could pay or ensure I got some healthy food but I politely declined telling him I won't be long. I ran around the shop desperately attempting not to leave Dan waiting for too long grabbing some vegetables, bag of pasta and source, easy cheap and quick. I paid and exited the store and briskly strode to his car not wanting to wait for a second longer to back in his company. 

Once I reached the car I saw that Dan was stood outside of the car talking to another man, completely oblivious to me I got into the car and waited for him to finish his conversation. The man was tall like Dan and had a similar muscly stature, His hair was floppy and gave a more scruffy look. They both roared with laughter and patted each other shoulders, it looked like they have known each other for a long time and could be the closest of friends. A few minutes passed and Dan got back into the car.

"Sorry babygirl, that was my good friend Joeseph I was just telling him all about you" he gave me a wild smile before taking off back to my house. I cannot imagine what they must have been talking about we barely know each other nevermind telling friends about each other. Arriving at the carpark near my house I convinced Dan that I was able to walk myself home but only because I promised that I would text him when I got home safely, even though it was only a two-minute walk away. We exchanged a kiss before I step out and walked back to my house with a skip in my step and a flutter in my heart. 

Stepping safely inside my house I placed my food on the kitchen counter and put it all away before texting Dan to let him know I was home safely. Next task was to look for Abi, I shouted for her and ran up to her room. I found her watching a film tucked into her bed, I joined her by sitting on the end and pausing her film so that I could have her full attention. Firstly I asked how she was, I'm not that self-absorbed, which she told me she was fine and in return eagerly asked me what happened to me. I told her almost everything, almost being the key word there. I told her we had s*x and he made me breakfast and how much of a gentleman he was and how he had made me a picnic. I continued reminiscing about my time with him and thinking about his eyes and body towering over me again. After our little catch up I settled down next to her to finish her film, typical Abi, of course, it was a rom-com but I didn't mind I felt as though I was in my romantic movie now.

The film ended and I left her room to leave her in peace, making my way to the kitchen I made dinner from the bits I bought from the shop and ate it in my room. While finishing my meal I checked my phone for any messages and to my relief there was.

Dan: Hi Princess,  glad your home safe and thank you so much for last night, better not forget about me next week but I, unfortunately, cannot see you as I am going away for business, I will be back Friday night

I let out a miserable sigh, his business trip was planned before he knew me possibly weeks or even months in advanced, I'm sure if he could he would have got out of going I convinced myself. Why was I letting myself get so upset about this, I've only known him a week? and he's only gone for the same amount of time plus we can always message. I sent a reply to wish him safe travels and that I hope he has a nice time. I turned to my papers and let out another sigh.

"Well at least this will give me time to get through all this," I said out loud to myself before organising my work for tomorrow and then getting ready for bed. Lying down in an empty bed seemed strange, after only one night in his arms I missed the comfort of him already. I shook my head releasing my head of any thoughts of Dan and turned over. After a couple of minutes, my eyes became heavy and closed falling into a deep sleep.
