19. The Nightmare

JP "Daddy, don't leave me!" The girl with a freckled face cried. She must be around eight or nine years old. She ran along an empty wide road, as if running after someone, "Daddy, come back!" She soon ran out of breath but didn't stop chasing, until she tripped over a trash can and fell face flat on the ground. I walked close to her and felt her heart-rending moan claw at my heart. "Stop crying," I said, but she couldn't hear me. She kept screaming out her dad's name. I bent close enough to her, looking around for anyone, but we were alone on the street. I wanted to hold her, to help her up, but I couldn't, since my hand kept sliding through her own hand. "Little girl," I groaned.
