"Liam, please introduce us," Rachel chimed in with amusement.
"This is Sophia," Liam said, his voice neutral.
Sophia's smile was a thin-lipped affair, lacking warmth.
"Nice to meet you," Olivia said, her tone polite.
Sophia's eyes narrowed.
"I've heard a lot about you, Olivia," Sophia said.
Olivia's heart skipped a beat.
"What have you heard?" Olivia asked.
Sophia's smile grew wider.
"Enough," she replied.
The tension was palpable.
"Liam what's going on?" Olivia asked.
Liam's expression turned guarded.
"Nothing," he repeated.
Olivia's doubt deepened.
"Was Liam involved with Sophia?
And what secrets was he hiding?
Olivia's mind whirled with questions as she excused herself from the group. She couldn't shake off the feeling that Liam was hiding something.
As she made her way to the ladies' room, Sophia's words echoed in her mind. "I've heard a lot about you Olivia."
What did Sophia know?
And why did Liam seem so evasive?
Olivia's thoughts were interrupted by Rachel, who followed her into the ladies room.
"Spill," Rachel said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"What's going on with Liam?" Olivia asked.
Rachel shrugged. "No idea, but Sophia seem possessive."
Olivia's unease grew.
Was Liam involved with Sophia?
As they returned to the party, Olivia's eyes scanned the room for Liam.
He stood alone on the patio, staring out at the gardens.
Olivia's heart skipped a beat.
"Rachel I'll catch up with you later," Olivia said.
Rachel nodded, her eyes knowing.
Olivia approached Liam, her heels clicking on the stone.
"Liam," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Liam turned, his eyes locking unto hers.

"What's going on?" Olivia asked.

"I'm sorry about Sophia," he said.
Olivia's curiosity piqued.
"Who is she?" Olivia asked.

"A business associate," he replied.
Olivia's doubt lingered.

As they stood there, the distance between them seemed to shrink.

They walked to a secluded corner of the garden.

As they turned a corner. Liam stopped.

"Ex-Fiancee?" Olivia repeated.

"We were engaged, but it didn't work out," he said.
Olivia's mind reeled.

And what did Sophia want?
As Olivia stood there trying to process the information.
Liam's eyes locked unto hers.
"Olivia, i need to explain," he said.
But before he could continue, Sophia appeared out of nowhere .
"Liam we need to talk," Sophia said.
Her eyes flashed with anger.
Olivia's heart sank.
What was happening?
Sophia's gaze shifted to Olivia.
"And what are you doing here?" she spat.
Olivia stood tall.
"I am with Liam," she said.
Sophia's expression turned venomous.
"You'll never be with him," Sophia hissed.
Liam stepped forward.
"Sophia, stop," he warned.
But Sophia continued.
"You're just a rebound, Olivia," Sophia sneered.
Olivia's heart stung
Was Sophia right?
Was Liam using her to get over Sophia?
As Olivia's doubt grew, Liam's doubt locked unto hers.
"Olivia, don't listen to her," Liam said.
But Olivia's fear has already taken root.
"Maybe I should go," Olivia said.
Liam's expression turned desperate.
"No Olivia, please stay," Liam pleaded.
But Olivia had already made up her mind.
"I need time to think," Olivia said.
And with that, Olivia turned and walked away.
Leaving Liam and Sophia behind.
She walked away, her heart heavy with doubts.
Liam's words echoed in her mind.
"Olivia don't listen to her," he had said.
But Sophia's venomous words still lingered.
"You're just a rebound, Olivia," Sophia had sneered.
Olivia's self-doubt grew.
Was she just a distraction for Liam?
A temporary fix, to soothe his broken heart?
Olivia quickened her pace.
She needed space to think. To clear her mind at least.
As she turned a corner, she collided with a familiar figure.
Rachel.
"Olivia what's wrong?" Rachel asked.
Olivia's eyes welled up.
"Sophia," Olivia said.
Rachel's expression turned sympathetic.
"What happened?" Rachel asked, troubled.
Olivia recounted the encounter.
Rachel listened intently.
"I knew Sophia was trouble," Rachel said.
Olivia's doubts deepened and as she pondered , Liam appeared.
