Song for the chapter: Brown Skin girl by Beyonce ft Wizkid, SAINt JHN and Blue Ivy. Gina's POV It was almost dark by the time I got to Owerri, Imo State. The bus driver had dropped me off at Toronto bus stop and I crossed the road making my way towards Casmir street where my parents had a built our modest home. It was the second house on the street after Chief Casmir Chukwudi's (whose name the street bore) gigantic mansion that the oil magnate had erected years ago. Uncle Cass was a family friend who had enticed my parents to build a duplex next to his as he was friends with my Uncle K.K Walking to the black gate I knocked. A dog barks alerting the inhabitants of a visitor. "Onye?" a deep feminine voice called out as the dog which had been previously barking whined letting her know I was someone familiar. "Mommy ọ bụ Georgina, gbapo ụzọ " I called back knowing she wouldn't open the gate until she was absolutely sure who was standing on the other side. Just then the gates swung open and I was crushed into the loving arms of my mom. "Kaa mommy, how e dey be, daddy nko?" I grinned the moment she set me free. "Daddy's girl, you can't even say a greeting properly to your poor mother, huh" she complained closing the gates as both walked towards the house. A tiny whining sounded reminding me I had forgotten to say hi to Jacinta, the German Shepherd we've had ever since I was Fifteen. "Hey girl" I lowered to her level and rubbed her head. Mom sighed and muttered something about her lastborn loving a dog more than her own mother. I ignored her spending more time with my dog. I missed her a lot and wished I could take her with me to Aba but unfortunately my residence had a strict policy against pets and mom would never allow me to take Jacinta away from her. I took a deep breath. My parents weren't the only ones at home. "Mom is Sister Comfort home?" I asked. Just then a dark skinned woman with dyed blonde hair, brown eyes and a killer figure stepped out of the door and moved toward me. I found myself running to her and hugging her with all my strength, inhaling her citrus fragrance. "Too tight Genie" Sister comfort complained calling my by the nickname she gave me. I loosened my hold on her, then grinned when I saw a huge, average height, dark haired Latino man making his way towards us. "Hey Jose, what are you doing here" I called out at my brother in law Jose Domingo, a Brazilian whom Comfort met when she worked in an oil rig back in Bonny, who was like a brother to me and who I loved to bits. "It's Papa's birthday so Comfo wanted us to come back to celebrate, even Marcelo and Sydney are here" he said in his thick Portuguese accent. We all walked into the living room to see my Dad, George discussing with my twenty eight year old brother Marcelo who was a celebrity Deejay in Lagos. I smiled walking up to both. "Kaa daddy, happy birthday in addy" greeted my dad who nods, pushed his glasses up his face from his nose as he stood in all his five foot ten, lanky frame, peering at me from under his glasses. "Gina you look different" he stated as he peered at me like a rare brand. "Haha dad very funny, were are your grandkids" I asked changing the topic as I knew what he meant. I looked better than I did before. Like one who had done a plastic surgery, my skin was clear off acnes and pimples, and the old scar I had on my forehead when I fell off Marcelo's bike as a kid had totally disappeared with my transformation as a vampire. I was beautiful before but now I was drop dead gorgeous. "They're at the backyard with Jennifer" he answered referring Jennifer Ikem, our fourty one year old housekeeper. "Hey Kid sis" Marcelo said as he opened his arms and I stepped into his embrace, then pushed off him and punching him lightly on the shoulder. "Aww what was that for" Marcelo winced then frowned as he was confused why I had hit him. "That's for ignoring me bro and for not telling me you'd be here" I pouted, folding my arms and glaring at him. "I'm sorry kiddo, I had no plans of showing up but Sydney insisted we fly down here last night" he explained. "Where's Sid?" I asked after his Lebanese girlfriend who had borne him two daughters and a son and who he he was going to get married in three months time. "Speak of the devil and she shall appear" Marcelo muttered and I grinned. "Hey girlfriend what's up" I called out to the model who was smiling as she took in my appearance. " Damn girl you fine die" she wiggled her brows as she hugged me partially. On her other arm was Richard, hers and Marcelo's one year old son. " Thanks girl" I answered. "So what's your secret?" She was curious " what lotion are you using now?" "Umm Martha didn't say, I just stole from her room" I rushed out fast, I wasn't a good liar and I'd didn't want to tell her I was a vampire. " Haha very funny Gina, are you going to tell me or do I have to tickle you to get the answers?" She c****d her brow in challenge. She knew how much I hate to be tickled. " Fine, I'm a vampire, there I've said it are you happy" I blurted out miserably causing Sydney to frown. "Yeah yeah and I'm killer Frost, so how about you try the truth now?" She retorted obviously not believing me. Before I could think of something, moms voice called out. "Dinner's ready" *** Third Person's pov It was dark as she left Daniel's house. The streets all but empty except for the night clubs and bars which were the only sources of life in the area. She walked briskly as she felt she was being followed. Feeling like a fool she almost ran but maintained her hair with the fear of being mistaken by the vigilantes and police for a criminal. Amina shook inwardly with fear, she needed to get home after being kicked out by Daniel her boyfriend for refusing to sleep with him and his two friends, Peterson and James Wike. Her friends had warned her against him but she had called their bluff, trusting him completely but he had turned out to be a wolf in ship clothing. "Oh lord I need help to get home, anyone please" Amina muttered a prayer. A gust of wind, and lightning struck baffling her. It seemed it was going to rain. Just her damn luck, she was going to be drenched before she got back to her lodge in Immaculate street. "Hey Amina what're you doing all alone in the dark for Christ sake it's twelve am" A guy dressed in all black asked with concern. Amina took a good look at him, she recognized him. Aaron Edeh, that was what his name was. A classmate he was only Amina had never spoken to him before. "I just want to go home" she replied with a fake smile. "Come on I'll walk you home" "No thanks I'm okay" Amina declined politely. "But I insist, please" he grinned at her " I promise I don't bite" Amina thought this over and decided since he was a classmate there was no harm in letting him walk her home. "Okay, but only because you asked nicely" "Oh yeah that was all I needed" Aaron said flashing his fangs. Amina's screams echoed as Aaron jumped on her, tearing her artery and drinking up every drop of her blood. By the moon he had always wanted to do this for a long time but the supernatural rule that bastard had signed in needed the permission before one could feed on humans, be it blood or their souls otherwise. He had finally figured out a way to do this. Meanwhile he looked forward to see who would get blamed for Amina's death that way he'd know what and whom he would be facing. And no archaic Vampire king would stand on their way. *** Translations: Mommy ọ bụ Georgina, gbapo ụzọ : Mommy it's Georgina, open the gate. Onye? : Who is it?
