training in hell

Now that I think about it, besides fighting, doodling is the next thing I do most. Because that what I do to pass time in other classes. I hated history, battle history, evil creature history. I mean what's done is done why waste so much time reading about it. But this was not what teachers thought. They thought that it was best for us to learn from mistakes and accomplishments of the past. Whatever the deal was, I hated History. So naturally, in history class, I was busy doodling on my notebook. I was kind of good at sketching and ended up drawing supernatural creatures that I liked most. As a dragon, it was lethal but it was so royal looking and damn hard to kill. Then there are Kelpie, hard to detect as they can even take human form but usually, we find it in a water horse form. "Annalise, can you please answer the question?" Voice of our history teacher pulled me out of my zone. "What question, Sir?" I asked as curtly as possible. The class snickered and I realized I might have missed him when he first asked the question. "The lineage of Gargoyles and first human war with them." He said through gritted teeth. "I don't really know." "This is not the attitude you should use in the class, Annalise." "Sir, why me, why not ask some other student something. You know I am not a history fan and often sleep through the lesson." I added dryly but instead of looking angry my teacher looked kind of pained and hopeless. "Sir may I?" The new guy, Jayden Wallace was also in the class and because of doodling, I didn't notice. "Sure Jayden." And then the boy went all encyclopedia on us while I tuned out the s**t yet again. "Annalise I want you to pay more attention." And I nodded just for his sake. But something weird started happening and my attention shifted from my beloved doodles to Jayden. I have never been stealing glances kind of person but I was doing that now. Much to my annoyance, I had no control over it because automatically my eyes lifted to see his face. The guy was beyond good looking if that was possible. But how was he as a person? I shouldn't care, it was bad for me and him but tell that to curiosity. Class ended and I sat there waiting for the rest of the students to walk out lest I touch one of them by mistake and they died right on the spot. I put my head on the desk waiting for the commotion and cheery laughter to get over. "Annalise Curtin?" A male voice made me snap my head in his direction. "Yes?" Jayden was standing next to me and instinctively my fingers formed a tight fist. "Can we talk ?" He asked with a smile. Not a sweet gentle smile, a flirty kind of smirk. "About?" I was being blunt even though I found him really attractive. "About you being an awesome warrior. I have heard a lot about you." And then suddenly he sat down next to me. I cringed and moved to the furthest corner of the seat giving him my icy glare. "I don't really want to talk Wallace." "But I do. Tell me, are you really unbeatable since the age of twelve?" Did this guy do a background check on me? "That is pretty amazing. But are you sure you don't want to be the leader? People say you are not a good leader. What do you think?" This guy was testing my patience, I don't do talking and not this much "Wallace, get out my face before I kick you." Why was he even talking to her, no one dared come close with her bad and snappy attitude. "Is this a defense mechanism?" He asked. "What is?" "Acting rude to an attractive guy." Oh now I know, he was the big-headed egotistical male. That was enough of my short temper and I kicked his leg hard making him wince immediately. Jumping over the table I hurried out the class almost letting out the breath I was holding in fear. *** As rest of the day dragged on I waited for the Silver Knight training sessions. Seniors were allowed to leave early for the training and I was the first to leave. I entered the room and noticed a schedule put up on the notice board. I had one hour combat and duals with Wallace and the one hour with the sorcerer leader. I was excited for both so I picked up my choice of weapon before anyone else got it. As soon as I picked up a well-balanced sword, a group of students walked in and looking at me immediately paled. At least I was sure I still had the same deathly image. Then what the hell was wrong with Wallace? Luca entered and gave me a small nod which I curtly returned. "Today we will have clear combat with any weapon of your choice to see who needs more weapon training and who just needs a little practice. You will be divided into grades. Grade A are the pros, grade B are the average and grade C will have two hours lessons extra." That made sense, but I don't work well in the team. What if I am put with others of whatever grade I am in, which is most probably A. "Jayden as you are the leader of this group, please decided Grade A carefully, then we will have them focused more on magic. Choose your first opponent." Luca said to just entered Wallace. And somehow even before he could say it, I knew it. "Annalise Curtin." He sounded smug, to say the least. His attire was badass and as I moved ahead in the dueling arena, my eyes checked him out and quite shamelessly should I say? He had that midnight dark hair styled in an amazing fashion. He had grey eyes which should have been cold but they were intense and calculating. And then there was that sharp jawline. No one knew but I was a sucker for guys with sharp jawline. I was the cursed ice queen didn't mean I had no crushes. Only if Jayden didn't have such an irritating personality, he was a crush material. He smirked knowing too well that I was checking him out. "Begin," Luca called out and I stepped forward to hit his leg first. As if he anticipated the move, he stepped away and tried to hit my shoulder this time. Dodging him easily, I observed his leg movement carefully. He was skilled that much I could detect. He swished his sword and aimed at my abdomen with full force and blocked it twisted it in other direction. Suddenly he flipped and was next to me and before I could see, his sword made a cut on my upper arm. I bit my tongue to stop the wince. I had an image to maintain. And now I was angry. We circled looking at each other and the guy had the nerve to smirk at me. Had I not been angry, I would have thought that he was sexy but right now I wanted to make revenge wound on him. Just imagine him as a freaking zombie, I slashed the sword close to his neck and he looked surprised at my aggressiveness. This time, I smirked and came closer to him which was considered reckless in a sword fight. But as he was about to hit me again, I bent down and making a cut on his thigh I slid down between his legs. A little surprised Wallace turned immediately and I saw a challenging fire blaze in them. I got up and backflipped as he kept coming forward. As I neared the arena's edge, I deflected his final blow with my sword making us come really close, our blades at each other's throat. His eyes bored into mine and goosebumps formed again. I stepped back immediately with a weird feeling to keep him, especially him away from me. He frowned at my gesture just when Luca came to my rescue and called it an end. Before I could move away, Jayden caught my upper arm and I literally had a mini-heart attack. "You are absolutely amazing when you fight." He complimented and horrified, I pulled my hand away from him. Had he caught my wrist, he would have crumbled to ashes. "Jayden Wallace, stay away from me. I am not the kind of person you can be friends with." I warned him in a threatening tone. His lips quivered in a slanted grin, showing off his dimple. Hell, first jawline, now dimple? "Who said I wanted to just friends?" And for that moment, the ice princess in me tried to think of a rude response but I just stared at his cold eyes with flecks of blue in them.
