Unluckiest Day

Sliding inside Steve's car, I felt like changing my mind. I felt like I'd rather stay home and maybe watch some movies and slack off like I always do or think about things. Think about mom. I sighed and shut the door of the car and Steve turned the engine on and drive to where that company gathering venue. "I'm really glad you changed your mind." Steve said. "Yeah. I just feel like going." I said and he nodded. The radio was the only sound existed the rest of the drive until Steve turned to a private road and I could already see the famous huge five star hotel in the area. The outdoor parking area was already filled with cars so Steve went inside the ground floor to park his car. I turned my head at the window when another car parked just beside Steve's. A sweet BMW but what should I expect. People who came inside that place were rich, expect for me. I went out from the car and shut it close just when the driver of the BMW went out and I was surprised to see a girl. Well, more like of my age and at the passenger seat, I think it was her mother who came out. The beautiful girl smiled at me and I could say that she has another blood mixed inside her. She has this European beauty. I smiled back at her and watched them walked to the elevators. "We're still in the parking lot and you've got to flirt with a beautiful lady already." Steve said making me chuckle. "Aww, you're jealous?" I joked and he laughed. "I'm not jealous." "You can have the mother, you know." Steve just shook his head and he placed his arm around the back of my shoulders as we walked to the elevator. "You should be careful with girls." He said making me frown. Did he had a tragic experience before? "And I want you to act nicely." He said. "I am always nice." I said and he looked at me then sighed. He was acting like I was hopeless making me chuckle. We went inside the other elevator since the other one just went up with the women. They didn't even waited for us. Tsk. Steve pressed the last number of the buttons, 40. "Is the owner of this hotel, your boss?" I asked and Steve nodded his head. He must be so rich, of course, he owned a huge company! I bet he got a huge belly for enjoying his riches. Just sitting and drinking all the wines and alcohols he could afford, attend social parties and womanizing. Damn it. I knew I have issues with rich people. I just couldn't help but thought about how life was so unfair. They who have a lot of money just wasted it over nothing when a lot of people were desperately in need of those money. My thoughts were cut when the elevator stopped and when someone went inside, closed and climb up again. We had a few stops to a different floors and it took us a few minutes before we arrived at the fortieth floor. I followed Steve as we walked to a hallway, a luxurious hallway and I could tell that those paintings of different sizes were originals and originals were expensive as fvck. I was looking at the artworks that I almost bumped at Steve when he suddenly stopped on his tracks. "Shit." I muttered, we were already at the end of the hallway which was a huge double doors and Steve pushed the right door open and a ballad music just went out of the door and seeing those people inside made me wish that I shouldn't have changed my mind and went with Steve. We went inside and I felt dizzy of the crowd, some were bringing and bragging their wives in fashionable gowns and in different flashy colors. "Steve!" We both turned to look at a man a few years older than Steve and a woman also at his age which I was guessing was his wife of course. "Bryan." Steve greeted back and they shook hands. "This is Marian, my wife." "Of course, you always talk about her. Nice to finally meet you." Marian and Steve shook hands and Steve turned to me. "This is Cameron, my nephew." Steve introduced me and I gave them a professional smile as we shook hands. "You've got a handsome nephew." Marian said and I thanked her. "Of course, got that from me." Steve said and they laughed. Cliché. Steve introduced me to his co-workers he met every way and I felt like I grew older for ten more years. I was finally able to breathe when Steve dismissed me and go get myself a soft drink or food. I grabbed a small plate and a thong and I felt like I could eat all the foods served there but my eyes really caught the chocolate fountain. I did mention about me loving chocolates. I ended up grabbing a bowl and filled it with chocolate. I felt younger again as I leisurely ate the liquid chocolate and it was the best chocolate I had ever tasted! I bet it was an expensive one! I stuffed myself and grabbed a glass of wine from a waiter and I could see Steve turning his head with another old man and I bet he was looking for me. I turned around and tried to get out of his line of sight but I hit someone else. The wine spilled on his suit tainting his white undershirt and his black coat and red neck tie. "s**t, sorry." I apologized and looked at the man. He was a few inches taller than me and let's say he had a fvck boy face like he could make girls drop their panties by just one look of his eyes. He glanced at his suit and then at me. I was pulling my handkerchief from my pocket when someone held my arm and dragged me out of the crowd. "What the hell!" I exclaimed and tried to pull my arm from another man's grip but failed. I turned to look at the man I spilled the wine with. "Where are you taking me?" "You'll know." He said. "Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I didn't know you were there and I know that suit costs a lot and I know you're rich and that would only cost you a penny." I said but they just dragged me inside a room with a television hanged on the wall and a long table in the middle of the room. "Are we going to watch something?" I asked and the other man finally let go of me. I soothed my coat and looked at the rich man who sat at the table while loosening his soaked tie and looked at me. "Who are you?" I asked because he looked familiar. "Zeus Lebeau." I was doomed the moment I heard his name. I couldn't hide my surprised expression and I knew why he looked familiar. I saw him on a magazine once. He was Steve's employer, the CEO of the company he was working and the owner of the place I was in. I guess I could say it was my unlucky day. "I just wanted to confirm if this is you." He said and the screen turned on and I wanted to ran outside that room when a CCTV recorded video played. It was me spraying that Porsche car parked in front of an apartment that night after I visited mom. It was fvcking me and I didn't knew there was a CCTV cam on that area! And my face was so clear! "Pause." The man said and the video paused where my face was so clear. He stood and walked towards me. I didn't even know what to say because it was so me or should I say it was someone that looked like me? "H-hey, that looked like—" I was cut and surprised when he held my jaw and lifted it and he scanned my face. I was frozen on my feet when I felt his cold hand. What the hell? "You." He continued my sentence. "Looked like you. It was you, right?" He asked and I never met our eyes. "It was my doppelgänger." I said and he chuckled and let go of my jaw. "Funny." He said and ran his palm on his jaw. "Small world and you didn't give me a hard time to look for you. Did you know I was forced to buy another car because of what you did?" I didn't know if he was mad or not because he looked so calm and he didn't show any expressions on his face. "I bet it didn't cost you that much." "It does." He looked at me. "And I want a compensation of the amount I paid for that car's repainting." I'm broke and he wanted me to pay. It wasn't my unlucky day. It was the unluckiest day of my life. "I saw you came in with Mr. Lerman. What relation do you have with him?" "He's my uncle." I said. "And I don't want you to tell him about this." He frowned. "I don't have money but I could pay you anything but money." ** ** **
