Chapter 29 The Gashouse Sandrell and her crew had no idea what was happening just off the coast. They had secured the dining tent, all four guard spires, and were now headed towards the fields. They were nearing the entrance when they heard the whistles coming from the coast. Sandrell knew that sound well. Years ago, when they realized she had escaped, that noise echoed everywhere. From the brush, she had to crawl through to the cold dark waters. The whistles rang in her ears. She heard the guard boats circle until she was sure she would be caught. Even when the whistling stopped that night, and she was safely away, she heard them sometimes in her dreams. These whistles were no dream, and she sent four of her crew to go stop the sound.
