Letters
Brenddel continued to watch the forest burn. The fire was nearly out. Only smoke remained, thanks to the torrents of rain. The wind blew the fading smoke away from them and down the cliff face. But they still had found no one. Brenddel could not shake the feeling that something was wrong.
Where were the bodies?
Brenddel has lost many airships and men thanks to Mantuan's tricks, but it almost seemed too easy. As though the young king was reading Brenddel's thoughts, Asa said, “Why didn't they put up more of a fight?”
“I was just thinking the same thing,” replied Brenddel.
“I expected this legendary warrior Mantuan to never give up, to fight to the death. But he just seems to have given up and died.”
Asa asked, “And where is the airship they stole?”
