As the week drug on Cassie was happy it was finally Friday. She had plans with Sarah and Scott was coming over this weekend to help James with a project so she only got 24 hours away from them. School was eventful to say the least. After the whole ordeal with Carol on Monday things got worse from there. Carol had made a point to tell everyone at lunch that not only had she screwed Scott but tamed the Bad Boy Tommy. Tommy was even upset with her on how she handled everything. They had become the most argumentative couple within a matter of hours. Sarah and Jake stuck by Cassie's side through everything. Telling her to ignore Carol that she was just this weeks flavor for Tommy. Cassie also hated the gut wrenching feeling she had whenever she saw Tommy and Carol together, she was almost jealous. She knew what kind of person Tommy was, he had a different girl on his arm every week and that he had no interest in her what so ever. Cassie had only had one boyfriend and that was Scott and he broke her heart. Her brother didn't even care enough to dump him as a friend when he found out.
Friday started off ok. Cassie met up with Sarah and Jake every morning and much to her dismay, Tommy and Carol made it a point to meet up with them before school too. Cassie had a hard time ignoring her but Sarah helped defuse the situation, or tried to. Today was one day that Cassie had a hard time keeping her mouth shut today for some reason, she was even rude to her parents which never happened. Carol started in on Cassie first thing when they got to school. "You're trying to hard Cassie you will never get Scott back" "Really well that's good because I don't want him back, do you really think I want your sloppy seconds" "You little b***h, are you gonna let her talk to me like that Tommy?" Carol had to have back up whoever it was she didn't care. "Really? You are hurt by a few little words?" Tommy looked at her, he hadn't really been paying much attention to what was being said he was trying to keep himself from staring at Cassie's dress, Baby blue that covered just enough. "Well, some boyfriend you are. Not even sticking up for your girlfriend when she is getting harassed by this piece of trash" "That's enough" Tommy yelled at her "I'm done with your drama. Get lost and take your bitchy attitude with you". Carol was stunned she had never expected that her argument with Cassie would bug him that much. " You heard him take your skanky ass else where" Sarah chimed in. She stormed off and headed into school.
"Thank you for getting rid of her" Jasper said he had been getting tired of hearing Carol degrade his mate like that. Tommy rolled his eyes at him. He had also hated how Carol had treated Cassie but he couldn't say anything. He had had enough of the arguing mostly because of Carol's high pitched voice that she got when she knew she was beat but he also hated seeing Cassie hurt. He had to find away to make everything up to her. He knew Cassie was going to be at Sarah's place tonight because he and Jake were having a guys night. He had to find away to prove that he was done being the player all for her, maybe he would ask Jake for advice. The last bell rang pulling Tommy out of his thoughts. He followed behind Jake and Sarah which put him walking next to Cassie. Her scent was driving Jasper nuts, he needed her more than she knew. "Hey Cass, would you mind if I walked you to your classes today?" Tommy asked shyly " You know just to make sure Carol keeps her distance?" "Sure, We have all our classes together anyway so it won't make people talk" "Oh, they will talk anyway if Carol has any say in it" "True to that she can't keep her mouth shut I am surprised she can close it long enough to eat" Cassie and Tommy both got laughing at that. It earned weird looks from Jake and Sarah, who looked at each other smiling.
Luckily, Cassie didn't have to worry about Carol to much because their classes were on the opposite sides of the school. Come lunch time though it was a completely different story. The whole school knew by now that Tommy had put Carol out and was walking Cassie to her classes. They all sat down at their table and started to eat lunch when Carol came up and started in again. This time Cassie had had enough. "Listen you little slut, I don't care" that was all Carol got out of her mouth before she got punched. Cassie stood there her eyes black with rage. She couldn't believe that she just punched Carol, granted she had it coming but that wasn't her. Once she started beating Carol she wanted to keep going until she felt arms around her that were dragging her out of the cafeteria. "Let me go, that b***h had that and more coming to her." Cassie struggled against her capture. She saw Sarah and Jake walking in front of her with grins. "Wait where is Tommy? Please tell me he is not helping that w***e?" "Well, you tell me who I am helping" Tommy said. Cassie realized that the voice had come behind her. She was able to turn her head and see his face. He was smiling at her. She turned back toward Sarah and Jake huffing. She felt Tommy chuckle. She rolled her eyes causing everyone to laugh.
When they reached the parking lot Tommy finally let Cassie down. She turned around and slapped him. He was stunned. The look on his face was priceless. "what the hell girl I just saved your ass back there" before he could finish Cassie kissed him to shut him up "Do you know you talk to much Tommy". Both Jake and Sarah started laughing because of Tommy's expression and the fact he got put in his place by Cassie. "We need to talk" Tommy said grabbing Cassie's hand and headed to the bleachers. "Finally, are we going to tell her she is our mate?" Jasper asked "I don't know " Tommy replied to him. Jasper fell silent after that. "If you are done trying to rip my arm from my sockets I am ready to talk" Cassie said as they got to the bleachers, Tommy dropped her hand which she regretted saying anything because their hands fit perfectly together. They sat in silence while Tommy tried to figure out what to say to Cassie, she played with the hem of her dress while she waited. Tommy cleared his throat before he began to speak "Before I say anything I want you to promise not to interrupt and save the questions, can you do that?" Cassie shook her head and Tommy continued "I know you know about werewolves thanks to Sarah, so I am sure you know about mates. They are our other half, are soul and we are weak without them, more so when they reject them. Very rarely are we matted with humans because they are considered weak as they can not fight a werewolf if needed. For whatever reason I got paired with you as my mate. I know I have a past of being the play boy and the bad boy, I am willing to show you that I can change that if you will give me a chance to prove it to you. " Tommy took a breath and looked at her trying to read her "I know it is alot to take in but I am willing to try if you are." Cassie just sat there thinking, her heart had been broken into a million pieces with what happened with Scott, Tommy was know to be the bad boy and player and she didn't know if she could handle the past that came with him most of all Carol, and she knew she had a lot to think about before giving him her answer, although she already knew what she was going to tell him. "Tommy" she finally spoke and looked him dead in the eyes "I need time, you already know what happened with my ex and I don't want to be just some girl for you. I do know what you are and about the mates, I am just not sure I am ready to be yours. I am not rejecting you I am just asking for time. It may not be Monday or next week but if you want to prove that you can change take that time to do so." With that she stood up and ran to her car, Sarah wanted to stop her but knew her well enough that they would talk later when she came over.
Cassie bolted out of the parking lot and made her way home. Luckily no one was home so she was able to relax without getting bothered by anyone. She packed a bag for Sarah's house then went to her bathroom and took a long hot bath while taking the time to think about everything that happened today. She ended up falling asleep and when she awoke she quickly got ready to head to Sarah's house. First thing she had to do was apologize to her parents for acting the way she did this morning. She went to go look for them but they were not home. There was a note saying that they decided to have a date night and wouldn't be back till late and to have fun at Sarah's. Well there goes that idea she thought as she headed out to Sarah's house.
