The power from my ancestor's bracelets washes over waves. Amun recovers in bed, sipping on the thawed blood and sleeping day and night like a man sick with the flu. In the dark apartment, I learn about my power. Without anyone to guide me, the going is slow. I simply draw and meditate on what I could learn, trying to connect with what my ancestor, Sauska could teach me. The return is rather silent. I feel alone and disheartened. On the second night of Amun's recovery, I take a break from concentrating and drawing, wrap myself up in a quilt and fall asleep on the couch. *** Sauska stands, waiting with an oil lamp sputtering in her hand at the entrance to a cave.
