Acting on instinct alone, he had performed many acts that other people would have found eerily creepy. But not him; after his encounter with the vampire Allison Kendal, he had found it easier to follow what he deemed to be God's will taking action through him. For example, earlier that day he had gone to Nosfort's hospital following one of these gut feelings.
