CHAPTER 19 : To The Rescue

Alpha Everett gave me a blank stare before he shifted his gaze at the woman. As he made his way towards her, I dashed out of the spotlight to give them. There's no need for me to stay here anymore. I gave them one more glance before I left straight for the dark forest. I should head my way back to the Black Stygian Pack. I only had a few hours left for the two-day time limit that Priam gave me. I just hope he wasn't true to his words, and he didn't mean it that night. But what if he does?

The tall grass touched my skin as I frisk inside, the huge trees were towering over me, blocking the light from the moon to give me a vision. This is hard. I should've waited for the daylight, but on second thought, I didn't want to return. As the cold wind blew, I hugged myself as I shivered. I was still wearing the white dress, and it was sleeveless, so I didn't have anything to cover my skin from the freezing weather.

Not sure if this was the right path to the pack, but at this moment I had to trust my instinct. I just hope no hungry rogues await me in the middle of this dark forest.

"Ahhhh!" I groaned at the pain that went through my system when I stumbled onto something and fell to the ground. Unfortunately, I felt a sharp thing wounding my feet. Due to the darkness, curiosity filled me, and as the pain gave me a sting and penetrating discomfort, the blood seemed to be making its way out of my flesh.

Trying my best to stand as I pour all my strength into myself, I fell again.

Closing my eyes to refrain from frustration, I heaved a deep sigh and was about to get up once more when I didn't notice someone was in front of me already.

My eyes landed on his palms beckoning to offer me help.

"W-What are you doing here?" I asked when I recognized who he was.

"How dare you leave the pack just like that, huh?"

"I don't belong to your pack, so stop it. I have some urgent matters to do." I replied, as I met his gaze he was smiling at me like an i***t.

"Where are you heading? I'll accompany you."

That sounded like a good idea. I could expect myself to fall a few more times because of the darkness before I could even get to the Black Stygian.

I didn't bother to reply as my pride was too high to accept his offer. I hope he'll get it though.

"I'll take your silence as a yes." I felt his presence following me.

"Why did you follow me here? You should stay with your new Luna." I commented after a couple of seconds.

"She didn't accept to be my Luna, Chandria."

"Watch out !"

Startling at what he just answered, I didn't notice a deep hole. It was too late for me to see that I accepted my fate and that I'd been torn down. Fortunately, huge hands held my arms before any disastrous scenario happened.

"Watch where you are going, mango girl." He remarked in a serious tone.

Biting my lip, should I tell him that I can't see clearly in this darkness? Frozen at the shifting sound, red eyes were now piercing me as they protruded in the dusk.

With a bit of light, I gulped at the huge wolf standing before me. Even though I saw his wolf during the daylight, he was still terrifying, his size was double. No, I think tripling the size of humans. He slowly bends his body down as he did earlier when his men started chasing us, though I ended up being fooled by them.

"I-I'll ride?" I asked.

Dumb question Chandria, he probably knew that I don't have a wolf. Because I wouldn't have endured this darkness and fled from this gloomy forest easily.

Walking towards him, I slowly lifted myself up to his back, and his soft black furs greeted me.

"I was heading to the Black Stygian Pack," I added, as he seemed to not be planning to move. It was understandable as I hadn't mentioned where I was bound to yet.

He didn't run, instead, he just walked calmly until the moon finally showed up.

"You know what, since we might not see each other again. I'll tell you a secret." I started. I think this is the best way to kill time, as it feels like we have a long way to go.

"I was almost to become the Luna of our pack..." I continued and looked up where the stars were now visible, to refrain from the urge to cry. I started this conversation and it would be a fool of me to cry in the middle of my storytelling.

"But I was deceived...by the people I trust."

"I was put in jail. And because they wanted to eliminate me, they plotted a huge scheme just to get rid of me." I still can't believe that they went that far just to get what they wanted. The innocent pack members were dragged and died that night.

"They were the Alpha and the Luna, they were supposed to protect us," I whispered. I lie on his back, letting my body feel the warmth of his mane.

"I shouldn't have trusted him. I shouldn't have loved him." I whispered and closed my eyes when I felt like doing so.

Fresh wind touching my face made me open my eyes, only to be greeted by a familiar facade who was sitting beside me.

"Good morning, mango girl." He greeted me and just threw me a glance before shifting his gaze back in front.

"Is that the pack you're bound to take?" He suddenly asked, making me look at what he was staring at.

The familiar building structures could be viewed from where we are, and I know just by the appearance of those expensive walls. We're already in the vicinity of the Black Stygian Pack.

"You should've woken me up." I ranted out.

"It would be impolite of me to do that." He retorted, making me sigh and stand up.

"Thank you for the ride, the pack was probably looking for you. You should go back home." I replied instead. He looked at me blankly before he stood up as well and started walking without saying a word."

As I watched his back slowly getting distant from me, "Everett!"

He stopped for a moment but didn't bother to look at me this time.

"Oh my apologies, Alpha Everett, rather." I chuckled.

"Thank you for saving my ass twice," I added.

Everett nodded, "If they kick you out too, remember that my pack will welcome you. Don't settle for less, you deserve better." With those words being said, he quickly shifted to his wolf and ditched out of my sight, leaving me with a heart that had been mellowed. If it weren't for Celestine, I would have stayed in that pack, though I'd declined his offer of being the Luna.

With the thought of Celestine, I quickly made my way to the pack with a sanguine heart.

When I arrived at the huge gate, two gammas eyed me for inspection.

"Who are you?" One of them asked.

"I'm Chandria, Priam knows me."

"You should address him properly," he replied.

"He's now the Alpha of this pack." The other one added.

I slowly nodded at the information. I was just gone for almost two days and now that I returned he is already the Alpha.

"Alpha Priam it is," I just said.

"Can I get inside now?" I asked.

"Unfortunately not yet, Celestine, the woman who could see the future, is fated to be executed in just a couple of minutes. You should wait after the punishment has been served before you can enter to avoid any inconvenience with the current situation inside."
