No words can describe how nervous I was. Until I saw a big gate within the vicinity.
"I-I think we should get there!" I exclaimed as I consciously looked back. They were still chasing us. Though there's still a bit of distance between us. I can't say that we're safe already.
My forehead creased as we neared the big gate. It automatically opened. That was cool, and I wasn't expecting that. A beautiful community greeted us. He stopped when we finally entered, but when I shifted my gaze to the back, the werewolves still followed us inside. What the hell?
"H-Hey run still. They were here too!"
But he didn't move. I got off of his back and was about to run when those five werewolves shifted to their human forms. My jaw dropped seeing their wide smirk at me like they were having too much fun. And when I glanced at the stranger I met, he was in his human form as well, with a small smile creeping out of his lips.
"W-What's this?" I asked unbelievably.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you that they were my pack members." He shot back, which made me glare at him.
"Are you freaking serious? To tell you honestly, it's not funny at all." I was gritting my teeth. My heart almost gets out of its cage in agitation and he'll tell me that he knew them?
"Alpha Everett, you should've at least let us catch you just this once." One of the werewolves who chased us commented.
The man beside me chuckled. "In your dreams, you should focus on your agility skills more."
I looked at them in disbelief.
"Hey mango girl, you alright?" My hands formed automatically in a firm fist, how dare he ask me that after what they did to me?
I was about to punch him straight in his face when a woman showed up behind him.
"Alpha Everett..." she wasn't able to finish her sentence when her eyes landed on me. And I'm sure I saw how her brows lifted up with a hint of annoyance in her eyes.
"W-Who's she?" She asked instead.
"Oh her name is mango girl." This time I shifted my gaze at him in annoyance. Would he really call me that?
"Please give her all that she needs, Beatrice."
"From now on, she'll be living here..."
"And probably a candidate to be my Luna." After saying those words he turned his back and walked away, while I was left with Beatrice speechless.
Did he just say that I'm living here and that I'm a candidate to be his Luna?
"Follow me." Taken aback when Beatrice's stern voice rang. I had no choice but to follow her. I can't help myself but be amazed by their pack's building structures. It was also modernized. Although the Silver Mist and Black Stygian were two rich packs, I think this pack will be second to them.
"Beatrice, what is the name of your pack?" I asked the woman all of a sudden in front of me.
"It was named after the Alpha of this pack." She answered, I could have chills with the coldness of her voice.
But that made me think for a moment. I remembered the stranger who helped me earlier and who also fooled me was called Alpha Everett, right? Then, technically speaking, Everett was the name of their pack. Yeah, you're a big brain Chandria for solving such simple logic that even a three-year-old kid would understand.
I bit my lip to suppress myself from chuckling as I could hear the sarcasm in my inner voice.
"We're here." I bumped onto her back as she stopped suddenly. When she faced me, her forehead was pleated, and her furrows were both menacing.
"I-I'm sorry." My voice almost broke as I got terrified by her aura.
She heaved a deep breath before she spoke. "I'll bring you food and clothing. You should rest."
I thought she'd scold me for that, it seemed like she was stopping herself from doing so because of the Alpha. Until she fully vanishes from my vision, I still can't get away with the idea that she likes Everett, and she's trying her best to hide it from him. Or more likely, their status wouldn't allow her to confess.
Shifting my gaze back at the closed white door, I slowly walked towards it and tilted the knob just to be greeted by a fresh scented fragrance.
The room was clean and neat, and it was huge enough for me. The white mattress from a distance looks fluffy and soft, it looks like a magnet now that attracts me to come over. After lying on top of it, I stared at the expensive white-looking ceiling just to think about how I ended up here. It was because of that freaking mango.
And what did that psycho just say earlier? That I'll live in this pack from now on and would I be a candidate as his Luna? It doesn't even sound like he's asking me, it's more of an order from him, and he's using his upper hand as an Alpha to refrain me from declining.
Life is getting harder than I thought. Priam only gave me two days to return to their pack or else Celestine would die. But how will I leave this pack? If the Alpha has decided for me already. My arms stretched out for the pillow beside me and I quickly buried my face into it, and started screaming, though, after a couple of seconds, I stopped when an idea popped into my head.
Perhaps I was just dreaming? This is just a freaking nightmare, and I have to wake up now. With that idea, I made myself comfortable on the bed and shut my eyes, hoping that when I woke up, I'll find myself in the middle of the forest, but this time would be real.
Jolting from the sound of the door that opened, my eyelids were forced to open and gaze at an old woman wearing a maid's dress.
"Oh sorry did I wake you up?" She asked worriedly, before bowing her head. I felt guilty for what she just did.
"N-No it's alright. I was already awake before you entered." I lied to her to be at ease.
"That was a relief." She commented and smiled at me. She walks near the table beside my bed and puts the tray of food on top of it. She also took the cloth that was hanging on her arm and gave it to me.
"Beatrice had some urgent matters to deal with. That's why I was the one who brought you the food and the clothing." She explained briefly, making me nod in return.
"I'm Elisa, by the way."
"I-I'm Chandria." I smiled back and glanced at the food she brought.
"Did you prepare this? It looks appetizing and delicious." My mouth literally watered just by the sight of it, and so my stomach probably felt that there was food next to me. That's why it made a noise that made my cheeks turn red in embarrassment.
Elisa chuckled, "you should eat now."
"Thank you for the food, Elysa."
"You're welcome, by the way here are your clothes. And you should wear this white dress for the small gatherings later."
In the middle of my feast, my eyes shifted to Elysa, full of questions.
"I wasn't supposed to be there, right?" I asked.
"Of course, you should be there, because you are the reason for that celebration."
"W-What?"
"Oh, I thought Alpha Everett told you that you were a candidate to be his Luna?"
"You know, we've been searching for the perfect Luna for him, and now that he has brought you to our pack, it was a piece of great news for all of us, because into finally, we will be having a Luna after a long search. And that's you, Chandria."
