CHAPTER 11 : The Rival Pack

1180 Words
Waking up in shock. Was it just a nightmare? The drops of blood, the sounds of the werewolves' howls, gunshots, and the young werewolves' cries. But it seemed like it was all real, seeing an unfamiliar ceiling. I quickly sat on the soft mattress and roamed my eyes into the room. Where am I? The room was filled with luxury furniture, even the ceiling looks expensive. Am I in the packhouse? But what pack is it? Only one pack was rich as we do, and I hope I’m wrong. Because that pack was the ultimate rival of our pack. “You’re awake.” A woman suddenly entered the room. She looks like in her mid-thirtees, yet her beauty looks younger. “W-Who are you? Where am I?” I asked continuously. “Don’t you remember anything?” She shot back. “Ah…” My forehead suddenly hurts as a couple of images flashes at the back of my mind. It was Alpha Primo who gave me to Hendrix before he fight for our pack. Hendrix and I encountered six hunters in the woods. Hendrix started fighting against the six of them but he got shot. Then… I was shot too. I bit my lip when pain suddenly run through my veins. “The gunshot was deep. You shouldn’t be moving a lot and get some rest.” “W-Who brought me here?” The one who lifted me when I got shot. I am sure he’s not Alpha Primo, our mate bond didn’t react. And this unfamiliar place explains that someone else took me. “You’ll meet him later, for now, you should rest. I brought some herbal medicine that’ll heal your wounds faster.” She walks towards me carrying a basket of greens, and a few bottles. “Drink this.” She handed me one of those bottles and water. “Are you one of those hunters?” I asked after drinking it. Her eyes widened but a small smile escape her lips. “Of course not. The one who brought you here save you from those hunters. The Silver Mist seemed to be in critical condition right now.” She commented making me attentive, and curious about what happened after that war between the humans and us. “I heard you lost half of your pack…” “And the Alpha Primo only save the other half. Many hunters died as well.” A tear escapes my eyes. My pack was in great grief today, and I was supposed to be there. “I am leaving,” I whispered and tried my best strength to stand up, but I only bounced back lying. “You’re still weak. You should gain some strength first, Luna Chantal.” My forehead creased… “I’m not…” I wasn’t able to finish my sentence when someone barged into the room. “Clementine, the ceremony will start in a few minutes. The Alpha was looking for you.” He uttered. “I’ll be there Sebastian.” He bowed his head and left after that. Clementine looked at me and smiled. “You should take a rest, Luna Chantal.” That name triggers me, I don’t want to be called by it. But I don’t have time to explain myself when Clementine left me alone. But that’s the least of my concern now, as I remembered my pack again. Yeah, I shouldn’t be lying here while my pack was mourning. I may not play a vital role for them, or my existence may not be important for them as the Luna and Alpha have, but the Silver Mist pack is my home for eighteen years. Seems like no one was about to enter the room anymore, as I heard from the man earlier who entered that they have a ceremony. I’m sure everyone will be gathered there and it would be a perfect opportunity for me to escape. Though I should thank them first for saving me from the hunters maybe I could visit them some other time. I tried my best to get up, taking some support from the headrest of the bed. I smiled when I managed to stand up, yet my face crumpled as the pain quickly rushed in. I closed my eyes and endured it. I should leave now. One step at a time, or else I’ll lose my energy that easily. When I made it outside of the room, dismay fully eat me seeing that I was probably on the fifth floor of this entire building. The ground was too deep for me to reach, it may not impossible for me to get downstairs, but it will take me a lot of time, and before I could even run, my energy was already drained. My eyes then shifted to the group of people, no werewolf rather, who were gathered together at a distance from me. What’s going on? Clementine was leading them, and a man was sitting on the chair in the middle. He’s probably the Alpha of the pack, was he the one who saved me last night? “Where are you going, Luna?” I was taken aback when someone speaks from behind. It was a servant, and I could recognize it just by looking at her dress. Though even though hers looks more expensive compared to what I wear before, it was still maid’s clothing. “What’s the ceremony about?” I asked back instead. Completely lost hope to leave this pack as someone saw me already. “Oh, that…” The hint of sadness was now visible in her eyes. “We lost our Alpha.” She whispered which left me astounded and made me shift my gaze back at them. Now I notice a dead werewolf in the middle, it was lying on the thick cushion and was surrounded by a torch. The cries of the whole pack soon followed as they bowed their heads. “He was a good Alpha, and everyone loves him.” The servant uttered. “But how did he die?” I asked out of curiosity. “I heard someone killed him...” She paused for a moment and meet my eyes. “The Alpha of the strongest rival pack killed him.” She continued. I don’t know why my heart started pounding uncontrollably. “W-What is your pack’s name again?” I asked nervously. I hope I am wrong. She looked away before she speaks. “Black Stygian.” It was like a bomb that has been released at the top of my head. The Black Stygian is the Silver Mist Pack’s strongest rival, so that means Alpha Primo was the one who killed their Alpha? As I shift my gaze at their pack, guilt quickly eats me. But one werewolf caught my attention, the one who was sitting in the middle. And when our gaze met, I was stunned to see his eyes. The scarlet-eyed werewolf was glaring back at me. “Priam was his son. He’ll be the next Alpha of the Black Stygian pack.”
