The darkroom slowly ate me as they threw me inside. I quickly flinched and tried to talk to them when I heard the sound of the keys locking me up. The greasy bars greeted me, as I watch them walk away, leaving me dumbfounded and clueless about what was happening.
“Get me out of here!”
“I wanted to talk to Alpha Primo! Please, let me talk to him!”
“I-I’m begging you.”
Until my voice slowly left me, my knees plunged onto the rough ground, frailed. What just happened?
Minutes ago, my heart was full of happiness and hope, having Alpha Primo around me. Thinking that later, I’ll be his chosen Luna, and life will be easier for me, starting that moment. But what’s this? Why is this chaos happening all at once? I never saw this coming. I never see myself behind these bars where criminals end up when I didn’t even do something wrong.
Why are they saying that I attempted to kill my twin sister? Where the hell did they get that? Was it even possible on my part?
Then, Alpha Primo, why did he act like that? Why did he leave me? Why did his men handcuff me and he just did nothing?
My mind wanted to burst out with lots of questions running inside. Minutes turned hours, and the day I thought will be my life-changer seemingly turned otherwise, or I hope not.
As the jail door slowly opens, I blink for a while as the sudden light entered the room.
“A-Alpha Primo?” I whispered, but huge dismay consumed me when I saw it was Hendrix, his right hand who entered.
“The celebration is about to start, as well as the proclamation of the new Luna.” He greeted me with those words, walking his feet towards me.
“W-what? Then why…”
“After the proclamation, you’ll be punished for what you did.” He cut me off.
“Am I not part of the proclamation? As far as I remember, Alpha Primo will choose who among Chantal and me will be his chosen Luna.” I shot back, though a part of my mind had an idea of what will about to happen, I don’t want to overthink it. I hope I’m wrong, that I’m just exaggerating it.
“Well I think, that won’t happen anymore.” He quickly responded as he dragged me out of the jail.
“H-hey! What do you mean it won’t happen anymore? And what about the former Alpha, and Luna? My parents? Do they know that you put me behind bars and treated me this way?”
“Because if not, you’ll surely regret what you did to me.” I menaced.
“You’ll be the one to be punished here in the end and not me, especially since you’re accusing me of something I will never do!” I added.
“Sorry that I wasn’t able to mention earlier, that it was the former Alpha, Nickolaus, and Luna Camila, who asked Alpha Primo for help, when they got to know that you attempted to kill their daughter, and your twin sister, Chantal. How on earth can you do that Chandria? She’s your sister.”
His words like a bomb exploded right onto my head. My parents were the ones who put me behind bars?
“You’re just bluffing aren’t you? My parents wouldn’t do that. And how many times do I have to tell you that I will never do that to my sister!” I growled.
Even though they seem to neglect me, I’m sure they still love me. And Chantal? No matter how evil she is? Killing her didn’t even cross my mind.
“What would I get then if I lie to you?” I was taken aback when he speaks again. He rolled his eyes before gazing at the crowded place right in front of us.
The lights were blinding, as the loud bang of music takes over the place. The whole area was fully decorated with elegant designs, with my twin sister’s name sophisticatedly and intricately written in the middle, where’s my name? It was my birthday today too.
“The future Luna is dazzling,” Hendrix murmured as Chantal erupted in the middle of the event wearing the most beautiful golden gown my eyes ever laid on.
“If you just didn’t let your insecurities eat you, you should have celebrated this special day of yours as well, besides your twin sister,” Hendrix commented this time. My forehead automatically creased.
“W-what the f*ck are you…”
“Sssh Alpha Primo is here.” He quickly interrupted me, and hearing that name made me put back my gaze at the werewolf with the golden eyes, even the crowd was stunned when he showed up. Who wouldn’t? He has the perfect features, and a masculine body, plus the fact that he is the Alpha of the pack means he’s the strongest among the werewolves. He was wearing an elegant tuxedo, with a golden tie on it.
When our gaze met I saw…nothing. His cold stares are new to me because whenever I’m meeting those perfect pair eyes of him, it was full of emotions. But now, it’s gone.
I don’t understand this current series of events, the fast-paced was making me go insane, and I can’t cope with it. I’m still processing it.
I wanted to run to him. My mind is in great turmoil, and I think he’ll be the only one who can answer all of my questions, yet until he removes his stares at me, I was just standing here.
“Good evening everyone.” My father’s voice suddenly emerged, dropping down the loud music, making the whole pack shift their focus on him.
“This day is very important not just for me, and the former Luna, my wife, Camila. Celebrating my daughter’s legality means a lot for us, but at the same time, will be a piece of good news for the pack, the long wait is over. The future Luna of the Silver Mist Pack is now ready for her responsibilities, and to lift our pack to the highest rank among the pack again, along with the help of Alpha Primo.”
what? Why are they deciding so fast like this? Father, I’m here. I’m also your daughter, I have the right to be one of the choices as the Luna of the pack.
No matter how chaotic my mind is, and how I wanted to speak up. I remain silent as tears started cascading down my cheeks again. Here you are again Chandria, you’re letting your emotions make you pathetic and weak.
“Now, let’s witness how Chantal will shift to the most beautiful she-wolf, and soon will be followed by her proclamation as…”
“W-wait!” I managed to gather all the remaining strength I have to interfere in this celebration that I should be a part of.
The crows were filled with gasps, as the hallway divided in half, giving me some path to walk on.
“It’s Chandria. I thought she was behind bars now?”
“Until now I really can’t believe that she is capable, and attempted to kill her sister. That’s ridiculous right?”
No matter how I wanted to interrupt their conversation, and accusations toward me, tell them that I don’t even know what they were talking about. I remain my eyes on my father, Alpha Nickolaus, Chantal, and Alpha Primo, as I neared them, not minding how shaky my legs were, I could hear my heart pounding so fast.
“Chandria ! What are you doing here?” My father’s baritone voice greeted me, his eyes were furious, and I don’t know why.
“F-father…”
“Don’t call me that! I don’t have a murderer's daughter!” He exclaimed, as he slowly fill in the gap between us.
“Father I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Silenced made me feel more uncomfortable, I feel so little without someone believing me on my side. They look at me like I have an incurable and contagious disease.
“Liar!” He roared, but before I could defend myself, I felt a pain quickly rush onto my face as his hand landed on it, my knees gave me up, letting me fall onto the floor.
“You’re a disgrace to this family Chandria! How dare you attempt to kill your twin sister so that you’ll be the chosen Luna? That cut on your face proves that Chantal tried her best to get rid of your evil plans! And you deserve that!”
My jaw dropped at what I’ve heard. My glance quickly shifted to Chantal who looks terrified, she was hiding behind my father, but at the back of that petrified face was a facade of victory.
“S-She’s lying…” I know my sister completely manipulated them already. But I really couldn’t believe that they won’t even let me explain and hear my side. Why do they trust her so much, while I don’t receive the same energy?
“You won’t listen to me aren’t you?” The only words left my lips, as tears continuously slide down freely before I put my gaze on Alpha Primo who was looking at me emotionless.
He saw how weak I was last night, he was the one who carried me, leaving the forest. Can’t he just defend me even just now? That everything my father’s accusations wasn’t true. That I was the one who was abused last night. I was trying to communicate with him with just my eyes, trying to seek help, because I couldn’t drag him into this mess, he’ll surely lose his power being the Alpha if everyone got to know that we were dating secretly. But he didn’t respond, instead, he turn his back.
“Let’s proceed to the proclamation.” The words he spatted, made my hope slowly vanish, but this isn’t the right time to give up Chandria.
“I’m your mate,” I uttered bravely staring at his back as he stop walking, stunned at the moment. This is the last card I could think of I have.
“Our mate bond is getting stronger A-Alpha Primo. Your wolf is yearning for me, I could feel that and you can’t deny it.” I continued.
“She’s lying!” Chantal quickly interrupted.
“I’m her mate Chandria! So stop dreaming! That’s one of the reasons why you wanted to eliminate me right? Because I could trigger his wolf and you can’t!”She added.
I couldn’t believe how blessed she is, for being so good at lying.
“How about let’s let our wolf decide for our faith huh?” Chantal suggested, with a wide grin flashing on her face, I know what’s running on her head right now.
No that can’t be, my wolf isn’t coming out yet.
“If you wanted to be the Luna of this pack, your wolf should be strong and beautiful for the other pack to see us as their strongest rival. Like how they see Alpha Primo, and his wolf.”Chantal added.
“F-fine.” I wanted to slap myself right at this moment with that word that suddenly slipped off. Though I’m eighteen today, and my wolf should come out right? Why not give it a try? I don't have any choice anyway.
“Let me do the honor first?” Chantal asked, and walk to the middle of the event area. The whole pack was watching us intricately, some looked excited about what will about to happen, though some seemed to disagree that there was a chance that I could be a Luna of this pack. I heaved a deep breath and set aside my thoughts, I shouldn’t be distracted and focus instead.
I glance at Chantal who seemed confident with what she’ll be about to do. She closed her eyes, and after a couple of seconds, as she open them, her brown eyes were replaced by a gold ones, flaming in. It was followed by her sudden transition, as she summoned her wolf, it was a big, fluffy, and gray one with golden eyes.
The whole area was filled with their clasp, and voices cheering for her name.
My knees started to shake again. You could do it too Chandria, remember that if you weren’t able to shift then it’s over for you, and your dream to be the Luna of this pack. I glanced at Alpha Primo, and I was stunned. Was it just my imagination that I saw a hint of hope in his eyes, but suddenly vanishes when our gazes locked on each other. Was he hoping that I could shift too?
When the whole pack was now quiet. I took the opportunity to walk to the middle of the area, I could feel all their eyes piercing at me.
My hands started trembling as well so I closed them in a firm fist, and tried to focus instead. I closed my eyes. I started reminiscing how my twin sister, Chantal always bully me, how the pack treat me as Chantal’s opposite, somewhat of a negative trait, and my parents who kept an oversight at me.
When I opened my eyes, I thought my eye color changed like what happened to Chantal but no, I’m just probably flustered with the pressure I am feeling right now.
Closing my eyes once again, hoping that this time, my wolf will finally come out. I couldn’t just give up. This is a matter of what my faith would be.
But like what happened on my first try, nothing came up. My wolf didn’t show up yet. I saw how disappointment hinted on my father’s face, while Alpha Primo remained cold and emotionless. Chantal who was now dressed up in a white dress after her shift has a huge grin on her lips, flashing a triumphant one.
I bit my lips, don’t you dare cry again Chandria. The whole pack started gossiping again. I put back my gaze at Alpha Primo, and without thinking, I run towards him and hug him.
“Chandria!”
“I know your wolf could feel it! Even though mine isn’t coming out yet, our bond couldn’t deny the fact that we were mates!” I exclaimed and hug him tightly. I tried to look at his cold eyes, I wanted to see it again, the Primo I knew since two years ago. Where are you? That Primo who’ll wipe my tears as he can’t see me crying, and breaking.
“A-Alpha Primo,” I called him as I tried to cup his face, maybe this way his wolf would let him remember that I’m his mate and that he loves me, and the Luna he wants to choose, but the last thing I knew I was lying on the ground. With eyes widened, and lips in awe, did he just push me away from him?
“Enough of this drama, I will announce my chosen Luna now.” His cold voice sent shivers to my spine as he remove his gaze from me, and look at the whole pack.
“I Alpha Primo, the alpha of the Silver Mist Pack rejecting Chandria Raccini as my mate, because she’s weak, she can’t shift to her wolf, and we couldn’t let other packs see us that way. So, by the power given to me, I am choosing Chantal Raccini, daughter of the former Alpha Nickolaus and Luna Camila, as my beloved Luna. I believe that with her by my side, we will be able to lead and dominate other packs, and be known as the strongest pack among our race.”
