"W-What did you just say?" I asked unbelievably.
"Are you deaf or what? Just stay where you are and wait for the execution..."
"No!" I quickly cut him off. How could he say that bluntly when Celestine served their pack for so long?
"You should let me inside or else she will die," I added. I couldn't find the right words with the anxiousness running in my system right now.
"It's too late now..."
"Gaspar! Let her in!" A woman in her fifties suddenly exclaimed, and as the two Gamma's attention was distracted, I quickly ran inside. I'll thank her later. For now, I should save Celestine first, every drop of second matters.
The pack was gathered in the middle of the huge ground, eyeing one woman who was tied up to a hanging metal stick. Her arms and legs were wide spread open, and she was surrounded by flammable materials.
"Celestine should be condemned for siding with our rival pack's Luna." The man who seemed to be Priam's right hand uttered in front of everyone.
"She has to be executed publicly for everyone to see. For those members who have plans to turn their backs and be a traitor to this pack, you'll foresee your destiny." He added.
"Start the execution now," Priam ordered, making my eyes widen when one of his men quickly obeyed and started a fire that quickly scattered around Celestine.
"STOP!"
Exclaiming at the top of my lungs, I quickly ran towards them, ignoring all the heavy glares that everyone was giving me. I know they're blaming me for all of these happenings, and I understand them.
"Oh, you returned," Priam commented coldly as his eyes bore into mine.
"Unfortunately, you're a minute late."
"P-Please stop. I returned, we had an agreement." I replied straight to his eyes.
His brows lifted, "Did your pack throw you away? That's why you returned?" He asked, and I could hear the sarcasm in his voice.
"T-They don't need me anymore. They want me dead..."
"How could I tell that you're not lying, huh?"
"I-I'm telling the truth Priam!" I bit my lip when I wrongly addressed him.
"A-Alpha Priam." I corrected.
"Unfortunately, I'm not convinced."
"Right! We shouldn't trust her! What if the rival pack sent her to kill the Alpha this time?" One of the crowd exclaimed, and everyone agreed.
"Kill Celestine." Alpha Priam commanded, as my gaze shifted at Celestine, she gave me a nod and an encouraging smile like she was telling me that it was alright. But no, I wouldn't allow this to happen.
Stepping my feet upfront, I looked at Alpha Priam's eyes. "Don't kill her Alpha Priam." I fell to my knees. This is the last hope I have, and it is necessary to convince him, at all costs.
"P-Please... I'll do anything to gain your trust, j-just don't kill Celestine."
As the dried ground touched my knees, I bowed my head to show my respect and how true my words were.
"Anything?" Hope suddenly emerged within me when Alpha Priam asked that.
"Then...go back to your pack." That made me lift my head and glance at him out of curiosity.
" You've mentioned that your twin sister was the Luna of the Silver Mist pack. Prove it." He added, full of authority.
"H-How Alpha?" I asked.
"Take the real Luna here." Eyes widened, "You want me to abduct my twin sister?" I asked.
"Oh, is that the right word? Silly, yeah I think it is." He let out a mischievous smile that sent me shivers.
I gazed at Celestine, who was still surrounded by flaming fire. She seemed about to lose consciousness in just a few minutes, as the smoke slowly suffocated her, and the fire was slowly nearing her.
"If you don't want to..."
"I-I'll do it." I cut Alpha Priam's words. I'm not sure if I could do it. Chantal was still my sister, no matter how evil she was. She still matters to me. But at this moment, I have to make a decision. Maybe I can think of another way to solve this problem, or just let them kill me to end this chaos.
Alpha Priam didn't bother to utter a word after that. Turning his back and walked away along with his men. I didn't waste time anymore, as I gave Celestine a short glance. She's barely breathing.
"Hang on Celestine!" I exclaimed.
"May I know where I can fetch water nearby?" I asked anxiously the man from the crowds.
"Overthere." He coldly replied, pointing to the dark part of the pack. When I saw there was a well not so distant, I quickly was obliged to run towards it.
Thankfully, the woman who helped me earlier gave me a bucket, and she also carried one. Even a few of the pack members helped me to kill the fire.
After a few more minutes, the flames were tamed. I quickly unchained Celestine, who was currently unconscious. I lay her on the ground far from the heat impact of the fire and removed my clothes. I dipped it into the remaining water from the bucket until it got soaked and gently brushed it against Celestine's skin and her entire body. The woman earlier helped me bring a glass of water for a drink.
When Celestine slowly got conscious, I slowly put her on my back and carried her into her house. Some of the pack members were watching us while the latter got back to their own business, as nothing happened, and someone hadn't almost gotten killed. Laying her on the mattress, I changed her dirty clothes and sat next to her bed while waiting for her to gain full consciousness. Guilt runs into my system, seeing Celestine's pale skin.
"Don't blame yourself." I knew it was the woman who helped me earlier, so I gave her a short glance and smiled a bit.
"Then should I blame the Alpha? I'm the root of all of these."
"Thank you for earlier, I owe you a lot," I added and shifted my gaze back at Celestine.
"Alpha Priam seemed to forget that this woman was the one who guided him from his childhood and until now that he was grown up."
"Celestine was a good friend of his father, and was one of the seniors of this pack already."
"Rage and wrath were taking over his sanity, and all that he could think of was to get revenge for his father's death."
"So you shouldn't make that agreement. He'll either kill your twin sister or you if you don't bring her here."
