Rosa’s voice was full of curiosity, and thanks to her it only took a few seconds that we met our gaze before he pulled me up and got on my feet.
“I was here before you came.” He coldly uttered before he left us dumbfounded. I was in a race still until he vanished from my vision.
That was crazy. Why did he have to do that? He should’ve let me fall.
“You okay Chandria?” Rosa walked closer to me as she held my hand. I forced myself to look at her and smiled.
“Y-yes.” It was almost just a whisper, and I could see clearly how worried she was in her eyes.
“You should be careful. What if Alpha Priam wasn’t here?”
“Do you want to take a break?” She asked.
I shook my head. “You said we cannot waste time.”
“Are you sure you want to do this?”
Looking away, I answered, “I don’t have any option, Rosa.”
After I recovered, I picked up all the books that fell onto the floor and put them on my head. I faced the whole body mirror this time and glanced at myself.
‘They betrayed me.’
‘They want me gone.’
Rosa is right. There should be no room for pity.
It was a tough yet fun experience I’ve had in my entire life. As I heard Rosa’s applause,
“Perfect, Chandria! Keep going!” She complimented.
My heart warmed at her words; it felt different to hear them from her. I’ve never been complimented before, even by my own parents. I always ended up being compared to Chantal in the end.
“T-thank you.” I shot back. She smiled sweetly at me.
“You should rest, we’ll see each other tomorrow. Get those
books and read them. I’ll train you with the etiquette, the way Chantal speaks,
do her make-up and dress up.”
“Thank you for today, Rosa,” I answered before she bid goodbye and left me in complete silence in that room. I once glanced again at myself and felt a bit guilty.
‘Don’t worry after this job, I won’t abandon you.’
People should love me for who I am. Not because I am pretending to be her, nor am I trying to be her. It sounded pitiful, but my priority right now is for this task to be accomplished. I just don’t have any idea how long it will end, or what the plans are for Alpha Priam.
After taking all those books, I went to my room and rested a bit. Before, I took a shower and started reading. I scanned the book about etiquette, it wasn’t hard for me to familiarize myself with its content since I’ve read it already. As the daughters of the former Alpha and Luna, we were trained to act like royal blood was running in our veins. Unfortunately, I
wasn’t able to apply it well, as whenever there are gatherings between the former Alpha’s and Luna’s of each pack, it’s only Chantal whom they bring. That’s why they weren’t aware that Chantal had a twin sister. I only fall behind her shadow. No one notices me as me. I sighed, here I am again being dramatic.
Taking the next book that was three inches thick, my forehead
creased.
‘All these pages so I could master how Chantal dresses?’
I can’t remember that she read this book so that she could have that fashionable lifestyle. It seemed natural to her to wear such revealing and expensive satin clothes, that complimented her perfect skin and enhanced her face.
I was taken aback when I heard a knock on the door. When I opened it, it was Celestine and Rosa who greeted me with a broad grin, and I wasn’t comfortable with it. Then my gaze darted at the huge bag that they were holding. I was kind of intrigued because the contents of that bag probably didn’t favor my liking, and I was right when Rosa spoke.
“Let’s do the fitting today, Chandria.”
“Alpha Priam will be your judge.”
“W-What?”
“I thought we'd continue the lesson tomorrow?” I asked.
“Unfortunately, we have to continue,” she simply replied.
Celestine opened the bag and pulled out the kind of dress that would never please my eyes.
“One of the reasons why you always fall behind Chantal was because of your lack of fashion,” Rosa started.
“Rosa, please don't be too much on her, we should at least lessen the pressure she has right now.” Celestine softly commented, and I
Appreciated it. She’s always gentle, more like the opposite of Rosa who talks straight.
“I-It’s fine. She’s right anyway.” I shot back and faked a smile before shifting my gaze at the clothes. They were expensive-looking.
dresses that were Chantal’s way of clothing.
“Wear them, Chandria.”
“Alpha Priam will be here any moment.” My heart started pounding against my rib cage again.
“Why do we need him as a judge? I mean I’m not participating in any fashion model competition, Rosa, I’m here to imitate Chantal.” I reminded her.
But to be honest, I’m afraid to hear the man’s comment about me.
Though, why would I even think it would be different from other people? Am I assuming or what?
‘Get yourselves together, Chandria.’
Celestine gently handed me one of the clothes. It’s a beige flowy dress, and it looks gorgeous. I’m afraid its value will decrease when I wear it.
“It will suit you perfectly, Chandria. Don’t worry too much.” Celestine’s sweet words somehow gave me the confidence to fit the dress. Before I went out, I stared at myself for a few seconds in the mirror in front of me. It feels different, as I am not used to wearing such clothes that hug my curves, and I’m not comfortable with them.
“Chandria, do you have plans to go out? You still have about ten dresses to fit here.” It was Rosa’s voice that was kind of menacing to me.
Heaving a deep breath, I slowly opened the door and stepped out. And walk like how I trained earlier. Celestine’s eyes widened, while Rosa’s face was blank, and I couldn’t trace any emotion from it.
“That looks good on you,” Celestine complimented. I smiled at her but it quickly faded when my eyes shifted to a new presence that I failed to notice earlier.
“What do you think, Alpha Priam? Doesn’t Chandria look lovely in that dress?”
