CHAPTER 4 : The Rogues

1273 Words
Sweat dragged down my forehead, as my hands went all and forth, holding the dirty rug tightly. “And with the power given to me, to punish Chandria Raccini for her sins against the Luna Chantal, she’ll serve us for her life and will be living in jail until I am resigning as the Alpha of this pack.” Alpha Primo’s words kept on repeating inside my head. Two months had passed and I was still trying to cope with my environment. My parents? They don’t give a damn. They once visited me inside of the jail, just to tell me that I deserved this for attempting to kill my sister, they didn't even bother to ask my side. I wasn't expecting them to ask anyway. Now they’re gone, traveling abroad, fully savoring their freedom, leaving me behind, suffering behind bars, serving the Alpha and the Luna. My hands trembled in pain as they were stopped from working with the golden shoes by stepping on them. I bit my lip to prevent myself from crying out the torment. Even though I wouldn’t raise my head to see who it was, I already knew someone capable of doing so. “Chantal, I’m working.” I clearly stated, trying to get off of her shoes, trying to keep my voice unbothered despite the struggle. The pain is excruciating as she puts more weight on it, but I tried not to be nonchalant about it. “What did you just call me slave?” Her voice was menacing, as I felt her move and this time leveled her face at me. I was on my knees mopping the floor with my two bare hands. When our eyes met, I only saw a hint of victory, greediness, and pity. Her eyes were piercing towards me as she harshly cupped my chin. “Acknowledge me as Luna, you b*tch!” “Why would I?” I shot back, meeting her eyes, giving her the same intensity that she does. “You should be grateful that I didn’t ask Alpha Primo to throw you to a faraway land as your punishment!” She roared back, making me look at her in disbelief. “Grateful? Are you hearing yourself, Chantal? I would be very grateful if you did the latter! Then suffer in this hell!” I exclaimed, only to be slapped in full force. I can taste the blood slipping out of my lips. “Disrespect me again and…” “And what? You’ll kill me? Oh c'mon. It’ll be an honor, your highness. Why don’t you just do it now, while the Alpha is gone? You can’t do it. You’re weak! You don’t have the strength to do so!” I provoked. Maybe on second thought, she’ll kill me. That’s what I wanted to happen anyway, rather than do this sh*t for my entire life. Seeing them watch me pathetically is a different kind of emotional and mental pain, and keep on reminding me how my life will remain trash in the next few years, or maybe for the entire life. “Don’t worry, don’t rush things, we’ll get there my dear twin sister. Just wait until Alpha Primo comes back.” She whispered before she left me. Alpha Primo was out of town for a week, and that was worse for me, with Chantal being around. Because if Alpha Primo is there, Chantal doesn’t often get closer to me, and I don’t know why. While the latter kept on ignoring me like I was just a piece of dust floating in the air. I was their slave, I washed and ironed their clothes, I cleaned their mansion, and many more except cooking. Chantal thought I couldn’t be trusted, that I might put some poison into their food. Though I wanted to thank her for giving me the idea to get rid of them from my life, nevertheless I will never do such a thing. The jail has been my home for two months, serenity in darkness. Peace in a cage. No one even dare to ask how I am doing, if I was able to eat a proper meal. Who would I expect it to be? I have had no friends since I was young, and the only immortal I could trust betrayed me. Why didn’t I see it coming? Why didn't it cross my mind that this might be the future that awaits me? Why did I trust him so much that I even depend on him for my life? I was so hopeful that he'd choose me as his Luna because we were in a secret relationship and yet the opposite and unexpected happened. Luck has to defer been on my side since the day I was born. I closed my eyes to get rid of such thoughts. I pity myself. Going out of the veranda made me smell the fresh air, the green forest was quite calming, and a small line crept out my lips when an idea popped into my head. An hour was left before dusk, but I still had time to refresh myself before I went back to the jail. Even though the pack considered me a criminal, I’m still one of the former Alpha and Luna’s daughters. Should I thank my parents for being who they are so I somehow get this limited freedom? Please insert some sarcasm into that. I ran to the forest as fast as I could so no one would see me and tell Chantal. I often do this after all the housework whenever Chantal wasn't around. Chasing my breath sweats cascading down my forehead, my weary body faded away as my eyes landed on the beautiful place. The sun was starting to set, and only the sound of the waves setting back and forth could be heard. The water was as crystal white as it was, and the cold wind started caressing my skin. I closed my eyes, letting this nature drag my sanity into bliss. A bitter smile escaped my lips. This used to be Alpha Primo and my hidden place. This is the only place we usually celebrate our small wins, and becomes our resting paradise, away from the chaotic war between the packs. It also witnessed everything, from the day he confessed his feelings for me, how he courted me, and surprised me with such gifts, and all the romantic dates we cherished. A tear fell from my eyes, power would still reign over love. I’m not a fool to not think that he did it because his father wants him to be the Alpha, and once the pack finds out about our secret relationship, then all of his hardships just to get that title will be in vain. But at least, he should’ve told me sooner, right? He only made me an imbecile, and ignorant of the fact that I'll never be his Luna in the first place. Letting my tears rapidly down my cheeks as I manifested my eyes to the spectacular scenery in front of my eyes for a couple of minutes before I decided to go home. I should be inside the jail before the dark devours the light or I’m doomed. But I was startled to see three black werewolves jumping in front of me. Their eyes were piercing at me, as their large pangs were screaming out their hunger. My heart started thumping fast as my knees trembled in fear when I noticed that they weren't from our pack, and the possibility that they were rogues heightened my angst. “W-What do you want from me!?"
