“O-Oh, that is…” Chantal gave the man a meaningful look, and the latter seemed to understand it.
“A-Alpha Primo, you’re back! That is… completely nothing.” The man was the one who continued.
“What do you mean nothing? Do you think I’m a fool?” Alpha Primo shot back. He didn’t seem to like how the two were acting.
“The thing is, L-Luna Chantal here wants to look for the missing rouges. I stopped her when I saw her almost enter the dangerous forest where the rouges probably went and L-Luna Chantal…”
“told me to not tell everyone about it, especially you, because you might be worried,” he continued.
“Y-Yeah that’s right, Alpha. And why didn’t you tell me that you'd be back today? You should’ve sent me a message…”
“I’ll come back to my pack whenever I want, Luna Chantal.” He replied firmly, completely shutting the conversation.
“Y-You should go ahead, your family must be waiting for you.” Chantal shifted her gaze to the man and faked a smile.
“I-I’ll be leaving Alpha, Luna.” He bowed his head once more before turning his back.
Alpha Primo looked at him intently as he walked out of that place, and he seemed not convinced by what he had reasoned out earlier.
“Have you eaten? We should go back to the mansion, Alpha. So you could take a good rest. I’m sure you’re tired from the…”
“Those rouges were able to break the chains made of gold?” Chantal had been cut off by Alpha’s question.
“I think it would be better if we'd go inside first. I’ll explain everything.” Chantal convinced him, and it took a few seconds before Alpha Primo led the way back to their mansion.
I sigh in relief when they’re completely out of my sight. I run towards my cage, and I hope this time I won’t bump into people talking and end up eavesdropping on their conversation. A small smile formed on my lips when I saw a tray of food on the corner table, timely enough when my stomach made a noise, saying she was hungry.
It wasn’t the food that I used to eat when I was still in our mansion with my parents, but I got used to it. To be honest, I preferred vegetables and fish, rather than meats, knowing that those were wild pigs or deer that they hunted in the forest.
After eating,I packed myself into bed on the mat and a thin blanket was good enough to give me comfort the whole night. For the second time, this is the opposite of my life before. I used to sleep with a thick yet soft foam back in the mansion. I smiled bitterly, it’s been months already, though I just can't help myself not to think of it. What if I just let my sister be the Luna and I didn’t dream too much?
Perhaps I’m still in the possession of my parents living the life I used to have, though I’m sure I’ll witness every day how proud they were that it was Chantal who became the Luna, and shoves in my face how weak I was, and to such areas, I’m lacking why I didn’t get it.
I think it’s still better at where I am now. I have peace of mind at night. And tomorrow’s another day. I hope something happens that will change my fate, right? Like the Alpha suddenly rejected Chantal, and put me on the throne?
I shook my head. I shouldn’t be thinking badly about Chantal. She’s still my sister. But she wanted me dead. She ordered those rouges to kill me.
Then I remember the scarlet-eyed werewolf. It takes great supremacy to threaten those rouges without doing anything. He just stood in front of me looking at them. I wonder which pack he belongs to? I haven’t heard of the werewolf with the scarlet eye before. Does Alpha Primo know him? Well, if he is, I won’t have the audacity to ask him anyway, so what’s the point of having that idea, Chandria?
Alpha Primo is now back. I hope my work lightens up a bit like how it was when he was around. It gives me a small percentage of hope that he perhaps doesn’t want me to get exhausted too much from work, that he worries about me. Oh right Chandria, give yourself false hope again and get the same feeling of disappointment in the end.
Despite my chaotic mind, I forced myself to sleep.
I woke up early as I would be helping cook the mansion. The Alpha is back, so I'm expecting that ten types of dishes should be served for breakfast.
“Chandria, please cut these carrots into tiny pieces.” Tiffany, the head chef, ordered them, and I quickly did as she said.
I thought it would be easier, but I was wrong. She then puts so many ingredients, spices, and vegetables on the side to be cut off as well.
“ Double time, Chandria. The Alpha will be in the dining room in thirty minutes, “ Tiffany warned. And that messed me up. I bit my lip when I cut my fingers as I tried to double my pace of cutting the onions into tiny pieces.
But there’s no more time to rant.
I finished every order from Tiffany and closed my eyes when everything was done.
“Your fingers were bleeding.”
I was startled when I heard that voice.
“A-Alpha Primo.” I quickly bowed down to pay respect. I thought he'd be leaving. Yet, I was stunned by the next thing he did.
“I-I’m fine.” I tried to stop him, but who am I against his strength? He quickly dragged me to the sink and turned on the faucet. He put my bleeding fingers under the flowing water and I don’t know if the circuit I was feeling right now entering my system was coming from the cold water, or his hands touching mine.
Until the blood was gone, there was complete silence between us.
“You should be careful next time.” His baritone voice echoed in the big kitchen area.
“I-I was…”
“And Tiffany…” He didn’t let me finish my sentence as he quickly shifted his gaze at the head chef.
“Y-Yes A-Alpha?” Tiffany’s voice trembled.
“Chandria has only two hands. Let me remind you of that.”
“Oh no Alpha, it wasn’t that hard…” I tried not to make this a commotion as I'd be the one to suffer in the end for sure, but...
“If this happens again, you know what will happen to you.” The second time he cut me off. And what did I just hear? Did he just threaten Tiffany?
“I-I’m sorry Alpha. Rest assured that it won’t happen again. I am just obeying Luna’s orders. ”
