Priam? Then he was the one who saved me from those rouges.
“He has scarlet eyes…” I couldn’t help but comment.
“According to Celestine, there’s a reason why his eye color is like that.” The servant retaliated.
“By any chance, is there someone with the same eye color as him in your pack?”
“No one, Luna.”
“Let’s go, the ceremony will end soon.” She added and gently dragged me out of that place, but my mind was still captivated by the fact that Alpha Primo killed his father.
Until we reached the house made of expensive woods and luxurious-looking interior design, my guilt was still haunting me.
“Luna Chantal…”
I bit my lip as I was called by her name again.
“I-I am not…”
Not able to finish my words, my eyes slowly widened when three men entered the house.
“W-what are you doing? Where are you taking me?” I anxiously asked when they started handcuffing me.
Priam came in from the front door with eyes as cold as ice.
“Bring her to the center of the training ground.”
What?
“W-What are you saying? H-hey!”
“Stop it! Why are you taking me there?” My heart started pounding so fast, I don’t feel good about that.
When I glanced at the eyes of the servant she looked down, avoiding my gaze. What’s happening?
As the three men dragged me harshly to the center of the training ground with all eyes on me. Was it just my imagination? Everyone seemed glaring and resenting me.
What did I do wrong?
“Our beloved Alpha Philemon was killed by the Alpha of the Silver Mist pack. In front of the Black Stygian pack, everyone will witness how we will execute the Luna of the Silver Mist pack in return for our pack’s loss. On behalf of my father, and as your future Alpha, I will be protecting this pack from now on. And those who abuse us will face the consequences twice as much as the pain of it. ”
Terror succumbs me.
“Y-You’re mistaken! I am not Luna Chantal!” I tried to defend myself but Priam seemed not interested at all in listening to me.
“Kill her.” He ordered firmly.
My eyes gazed at the large axe that one of the men was holding, and it was nearing me slowly. I could even hear my heart thumping so fast like I only had a few seconds to savor the moment that I was alive.
“P-Please… Don’t kill me! I-I am not Luna Chantal! I am her twin sister Chandria! Y-You’re mistaken! I have no effect on Alpha Primo, e-even if you kill me. You won’t hurt him twice as you wanted! P-Please, hear me!” I begged on my knees as tears started cascading down my cheeks.
But when the axe finally stopped in front of me, my hope slowly vanished.
“Stop spitting nonsense just to escape this death. Your Alpha made a huge mistake in killing my father, as his Luna, it is your duty to be responsible for his horrendous actions. Perhaps you should pay for it.”
“B-Believe me, I’m not Chantal.” I bowed my head, hoping for a little mercy from him.
“I don’t want to hear anything from you. The Alpha should lose something important to him as well. Kill her.” His voice was full of authority and conviction. At this certain point, I couldn't do anything more but keep my eyes shut and not see that axe dig into my flesh until I slowly lost my breath.
I could hear the loud thud of my heart, and the world seemed to stop moving. Is this the end of me? I haven’t done anything that made me proud. I haven’t proven anything yet. That I’m more than just Chantal’s shadow, that I also deserve to be treated. That I am capable of something too.
“Stop that Priam.” A stern voice of a woman suddenly erupted. But it feels like I will collapse any moment now.
“Do not meddle in this, Celestine.”
“I-I saw something, Priam. You shouldn’t kill her.”
“If you’re doing this because you pity…”
“No.” She quickly cut off.
“She’s not an ordinary werewolf.”
“Oh, of course, she is just a human. I couldn’t sense any wolf from her.” Priam retorted.
“Listen to me, let’s not do this tonight. We might regret it later. I have to figure out what I saw.”
“No. You have no right to tell me what to do, Celestine…”
That’s the moment I forced my head to look up and see the situation. The intense stares between Celestine and Priam seemed like a war was about to break out, and even their pack members looked terrified.
“When your father was alive, he respected me so much,” Celestine reminded him.
“But I’m not my father, Celestine. And let me do this as his son, I have the right to be mad and get revenge.”
“And after that what? Do you think after killing her, that pain will vanish?” Celestine asked intently.
“No. But my father’s death will be given justice…”
“Is that how the next Alpha should think? That only death is the way to get justice?”
Priam had been silenced for a couple of seconds, and even one of the pack members didn’t try to meddle in their conversation.
“I thought you already agreed to this…” Alpha looked away and was a bit calm now. This time I had the chance to look into his scarlet eyes. How could he even hide all the pain within those blank ones?
“Alpha Philemon is close to me, every one of you here knows that. Knowing how kind-hearted he is, he’ll never be happy if you kill someone innocent for him.”
“What if she was telling the truth?” Celestine suddenly looked at me.
“That she has a twin sister.”
“What if you’re wrong this time, Celestine? Would you really buy that? We all knew…”
“What Priam? Do you know that much about the current Luna of the Silver Mist pack?”
“As the only werewolf who could foresee the future, and the eldest among you all. I am ordering you, Priam, to stop this execution.”
“If you are wrong this time, Celestine, you’ll be punished.”
“I know. But if I am right, I am not the only one who’ll be saved, not even our pack only, but our entire race.”
Priam glanced at her with his eyes suddenly filled with curiosity. And so do I. What is she talking about this time?
“I am talking about that woman that you wanted to kill. She is not just a human or an ordinary werewolf. Behind those weaknesses that everyone only noticed hides a great power that could defeat evil, and will save us Priam.”
“She is the she-wolf in the prophecy.”
“The chosen one destined to kill the Alpha with the tattoo on his arm.”
