Shen Lingyan questioned her with a solemn expression. After hearing his question, Lin Sa burst into a giggle, revealing two adorable canine teeth that added an air of innocence to her usually alluring demeanor.
Seeing her laugh, the word "vixen" flashed through Shen Lingyan's mind. He had never met a woman who could so skillfully balance seductiveness and purity.
"Is Mr. Shen jealous?" Lin Sa lightly scratched his chest with her index finger in a kitten-like gesture.
"Answer my question," Shen Lingyan would not allow her to digress.
"No, I'm quite picky when choosing men," Lin Sa rose on her tiptoes to his ear. "Only someone like you, Mr. Shen, could make me willing."
Shen Lingyan let out a derisive snort upon hearing her words. "Someone like me? It seems you admit to having had quite a few men before."
Shen Lingyan calmed himself and pushed her shoulders to create distance between their bodies. He couldn't let her closeness distract his thoughts any further.
"Tell me your real intention," he demanded. Shen Lingyan was always meticulous, and Lin Sa's appearance tonight felt too coincidental not to arouse his suspicion of her true motive.
"I told you, I need money," Lin Sa met his gaze unflinchingly. "Of course, if Mr. Shen is willing to be my boyfriend, I'll be very happy too." She playfully winked at him.
Shen Lingyan stared at her in silence, his eyes filled with doubt and scrutiny as he studied her.
Lin Sa didn't avoid his gaze, letting him look while even sweeping her hair back in a graceful gesture.
"Boyfriend?" Shen Lingyan repeated those three words with an amused tone before chuckling. "You're rather ambitious."
"I'm so pretty, it wouldn't be a loss for Mr. Shen to be my boyfriend, right?" Lin Sa shamelessly leaned against him.

A wave of heat surged within Shen Lingyan. Seizing his lingering rationality, he pushed Lin Sa away. "Go take a shower."
Lin Sa curved her red lips in satisfaction. "Okay."
With that, she swayed her hips and entered the bathroom. Shen Lingyan's gaze lingered in the direction she left, his expression profound.
His intuition told him this woman had an ulterior motive for getting close to him. If he slept with her tonight, it could potentially lead to major trouble.
Shen Lingyan wasn't governed by base urges. Although her body held immense allure, he wouldn't forget his principles. If someone did scheme to entrap him with a temptress like her, wouldn't he be falling into their trap by sleeping with her tonight?
Sending her to shower also gave him time to cool down, as he was feeling flustered.
Lost in thought, Shen Lingyan's phone suddenly vibrated. Seeing Gu Beicheng's name, he stepped out into the hallway to answer.
As soon as the call connected, Gu Beicheng asked, "Third Brother, do you know that woman? You didn't really take her..."
Shen Lingyan cut him off. "Are you still at the palace?"
Gu Beicheng: "Yeah, about to head back. What's up, Third Brother?"
Shen Lingyan: "Get me her background information from your people there."
Gu Beicheng: "You want to check her out? I asked around earlier - apparently she used to be the lead singer of a pretty famous rock band. After the band broke up, she started doing gigs at bars and music festivals to earn performance fees."
After Shen Lingyan had left with Lin Sa, Gu Beicheng and Xue Bin inquired about her with the palace staff.
"Just that?" Shen Lingyan asked.
