Prologue
I stared down at the chipped chalice that nestled between my small hands, the red tinge of the liquid shining brightly from the moon above. The smell was sweet and alluring, despite the undertones of rust seeping through, causing my stomach to twist and turn into a knot.
“Andrea, drink it the moons almost reached it Apex.” Came the light shrilled voice of my mother from behind me, “I can’t do this.” I replied as I stared out into the dark abyss at the top of the cliff, dangerously close to the edge. “Then we’ve done all this work for nothing.” Chimed in an annoyed Cora, although she was the youngest of the three of us she was the most powerful, and irritating.
I closed my eyes and began to chant the words that my mother had drilled into my head since we agreed upon our deal, the deal that would save her soul. I stared up at the moon as I chanted, the others joining in in perfect sync. I concentrated hard as the sound of thunder began to roll across the vast ocean before me, this was it- the biggest moment of my life. Everything I had done had led me to this point, and there would be no turning back now.
