In the cafeteria, I try to keep my focus on the conversation with Klaus and the twins, but my eyes keep darting to the table across the room where Emily sits alone. She's hunched over her tray, clearly uncomfortable and out of place. It's been this way since I came back, and it's been gnawing at me.
Just as I'm about to look away, I see Lily and Tanya, Kayla's minions, approaching Emily's table with predatory smiles. My pulse quickens, and I get that familiar sinking feeling in my stomach. They're up to something, and it's not going to be good.
Klaus notices my sudden change in demeanor. "What is it?" he asks, following my gaze.
