So much, so soon and so suddenly and unexpectedly! Here I sit at the main bench and on my worktable some of the finest quality leather, cord and wool I have ever seen in my life. I run my fingers over the leather and wool slowly, enjoying the texture of it. I never expected two shoemakers to leave Master Candleman"s employment and much less was I prepared for him to take me under his wing and train me up as a fully qualified shoemaker. More than two months of intensive training and working on the job under his eagle eyed supervision have I enjoyed and even though I have picked up many of the tricks of the trade and methods of making shoes over the years, I still feel I have done well to reach my present level of efficiency.
