I am never happy at Durham Place or indeed any place where I am close to the Duke of Northumberland and his awful Duchess wife. Today I do not feel like eating much breakfast and take little but the Duchess apprehends me and informs me I am much too thin and must eat more heartily. "I am not hungry thank you madam," I say, archly. "You are required to stand by Jane, awaiting the king"s pleasure," she says, irritably. "Although you need to be suitably well nourished and healthy." "I"m healthy enough now," I tell her, "as long as I watch carefully what I eat here." She becomes angry, goes red in the face and demands to know what I think I am talking about. I tell her that I have frequently felt unwell since being in this house and suspect poison has been added to my food. She is furious
