I wait all day in the state apartments where I have lived for nine days for something to happen but nothing does. I am left alone after a night of tossing and turning in bed with Guildford moaning feebly or waking himself and disturbing me. He joins me for breakfast but then wanders off, I know not where. I walk in the gardens undisturbed, sunlight glistening on tree, flower and bough, the first time I have emerged out of doors since I arrived here.
